Keep us posted. I go for my 2nd infusion on Friday. What are you taking with the Avastin?
Nancy, I am only taking the Avastin. The doctor wanted me to take Gemzar with the Avastin but he is still fighting with the insurance carrier. So he didn't want me to go without anything and he started with the Avastin alone for now.
Good luck to you also.0 -

with results on the Avastin. Did you have any trouble with your insurance co. oking this? I've heard that some companies are balking at the cost.
((((HUGS)))) Maria
I had no problem. But I have wonderful health insurance through my husbands employer. It is the NYS employee health care plan. If you go to one of their recommended cancer centers there is NO copay for anything except prescription drugs. If use their recommended cancer centers they also reimburse for travel over 100 miles one way, tolls, parking, pay food and lodging for 2 people. If the a child was sick they would pay meals for both parents. If you had to fly there they would pay for coach flight. Of course their recommended cancer centers are the highest caliber ones. MSKCC is one of them.0 -

The insurance company was ok with the Avastin but they didn't want to approve the Avastin along with the Gemzar or vice versa. They would pay for the Gemzar but not along with the Avastin. My doctor says he has fought this before for others and we will get it pushed through. In the meantime, they just started with the Avastin alone.
And they wonder why I broke out with shingles...ha..ha..ha..
They told me to try to keep the stress down...ha..ha..ha..
I think I am having so much fun right now....ha...ha..ha.
I am just trying to stay positive.
(((Hugs to you))))

Nancy that is so awesome that you don't have to worry about the insurance side of it. I have been blessed with my insurance (other than getting this covered). I have a small copay and the rest is covered at 100%. I feel so sorry for those that don't have that. I don't know if my insurance would cover all the traveling and meals but I haven't had to do that yet.
Nancy, everytime I see your name pop up, I say a little prayer for your family. I want those boys to grow up with you right there cheering them on.
(((Hugs))))
