So now it's on to radiation, the first consultation is set for this Friday.
Thank you all again for all the support, hugs, encouragement, prayers, thoughts, and positive energy throughout my journey.

Be sure and use the creams your oncologist prescribes from day one. It will help your skin to stay moist and you want that. I used Aquaphor, which you can buy in any drug store to keep my skin moist, and, I used Biafine, a prescription, when I started getting pink.
Get lots of rest! Drink lots of fluids. You might want to wear long pants and socks for your treatments. It is freezing in that room. They covered me with a blanket, but, it was still cold.
Ok, think that's it for my lecture. lol

I have IBC, which behavesnew2me said:Question ????
So glad all looks good for you - Amen!!
But since you went through chemo why didn't it kills those spots of cancerous cells throughout the breast?? or is that what radiation does??
I have IBC, which behaves very differently from other types of BC. IBC often never even involves a tumor, but spreads in "sheets". I did have a tumor and the chemo shrank that down to a "spot", leaving that spot and some others (that were previously "sheets"). Then the mastectomy removed all those "spots". Now radiation should kill cells remaining along the chest wall or in the lymph nodes. At least that's how I understand it. -
thanks for the tips!Ritzy said:Really super duper good news! Congrats Linda! Wishing you the best of luck with rads.

One more..if you use Aquaphor, and, only use what your own rads oncologist says to, be sure and wear something that you can just throw away when you finish rads. I wore old tshirts of my hubby's because Aquaphor is really greasy and stains. Even hot water can't get the stains out.
I used it mainly at night when I went to bed and greased myself up good. lol Aquaphor first and Biafine on top of that.
And, you can't put anything like that on your skin for a few hours prior to your treatment. Be gentle with your skin too when you bathe or shower.
I sound like an old mother hen, don't I? lol
