I had my first one
FIRST unltra sound about year into tamoxifen and now every 6mths (I happened to need a D & C after each one) I have been on it now about 18mths. (I do have thickening of uterus!)
I just had issue of bleeding out of blue after 3+ yrs of not (menopause) went to dr right away-not concerned since just had 2 D & C and all ok...he did some more tests to be sent out-I should know Thursday! I would assume side effect- -
baseline
I'd never had need for a uterine ultrasound. My periods had been like clockwork, not a problem. Menopause was sudden, 12 years ago. No problems but hot flashes and leg cramps (sounds like Tamoxifen side effects, eh?) that eventually reduced but persisited until I started Tamoxifen, which made them worse again. On Effexor to reduce hot flashes.
Even though the oncologist thought ultrasound would be unnecessary, I had one done as a baseline, as soon as I could before starting Tamoxifen. A couple of months I think. Less than a year later the next ultrasound found thickening that turned out to be benign polyps. What a hassle, and expensive to get rid of!

wow...just the opposite with me...MY ONCOLOGist insisted on Uterine ultrasound...my GYNO said he does't usually do them. HE did the first one (found thickening) and then D & C so I thought I was good to go. MY ONCOLOGIST said you need ultra sound-I reminded her I just had one..she said NO @ 6mths...!
