Thank You
Fran,
I love buffets. I have heard they are not the most sanitary eating spots, but how do we really know how sanitary high class eateries are. We only go by what they tell us anyway.I see stuff on TV all the time so I know its true LOL. So I will take my chances.hOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU GONE INTO A SUPERMARKET AND WATCHED PEOPLE RUN THEIR FINGERS THRU THE GRAPES AND APPLES AND OTHER FRESH FOOD? I know we wash it off but we don't use anything but water,so how sanitary is it? We boil the freah veggies, but not the fruit. You know when I was on chemo I lost all my taste.Could not even taste mustard. It taste like it should now. Now I still have things that do not taste like they used too. Tomato sauce especially taste different than it used too. It taste good but it does not taste like it used too. There are others foods as well. Like I was saying they don't taste bad, just different.I don't know if others have noticed this or not. Take care and thanks again for the birthday wish. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)0 -

Hey John,
Happy Birthday from me also. You're 62? I don't believe it. You look so young.
Anyway, most important, you should always feel young and spry.
My favorite used to be, chinese buffet. Oh well.

Hey John,
As I said in another thread, no matter what age you are this year -- it's a GREAT birthday! Hope you enjoyed it to the fullest.
You've been off chemo longer than I have, but there are still things that don't taste the same to me. Especially wine. That is coming back more slowly than anything else, I think. Also, my sense of smell has changed and so far has not gotten back to normal. But there is time. I still have 2 years just to get to where you are today.
Best wishes, John.

You're right about people touching fruits and veggies but I'll admit I haven't done buffets on chemo. Bought a "wash" for fresh fruits and veggies but who knows if it helps or not. When I started my first chemo last June, my Oncologist said "If you can peel a fruit, you can eat it - don't touch any others." That included many - bananas, pears, apples, citrus, pineapple, etc. but left out all the fresh berries of the summer which I really missed!
I haven't had any change in taste on either chemo, but have read and heard that many do. I hope yours returns - hard to imagine what that would be like for someone who enjoys food as much as I do!
Hope your day was happy - Fran0 -
