I can't believe how fast, and yet slow, it has gone since my first post of "Help, what should I expect"...I just completed my 4th of 6th carbo/taxol infusions on Friday. If I stay on schedule I have one in February and the final on March 4. This last time I just barely made the "cut" with my WBC just at the bare minimum. Hopefully I will bounce back enough to stay on track for #4 and #5. I am not on any shots for the building up of the WBC. I am so looking forward to this being over. Of course I know it might not ever be "permanently" over but I'm ready for an infusion free spring and summer...and if not forever, at least for a very long time. You all have been my guiding graces. Susan

I've been tolerating them well. Worst was after #2 when I developed a UTI. High fever, lots of malaise. Got it under control with antibiotics. My achy days will probably come tomorrow and last for a few days. Manageable with Tylenol or Percocet. No problem with nausea...stayed on schedule with post chemo zofran. It has worked well. My biggest boo hoo is I am also on blood thinners so I have to have that checked very frequently and I get more anxious about the potential side effects of that than dealing with the chemo. It's hard to stablilze the blood thinners while on chemo because of what chemo does to the body. And it's not even clear I really have to be on the blood thinners but that is a whole other story. I will be on them through the duration of chemo.

2 more to go! It will be
2 more to go! It will be March before you know it. How come you don't get the shot the day after chemo for your WBC? You are probably better off. I got bad bone pain from that shot 4 out of my 6 times I got it. Congrats on being past the half way mark :)

    wbc shots
Not sure. It doesn't seem to be a standard practice with my doctor since I did make the "cut" for each chemo but a couple just barely. We will see if I can make the last two without the boost. My understanding is some insurances are futsy about it if you are on a three week cycle they'll say just wait another week to see if the WBC bounce back. Amazing how insurance gets to call so many shots (no pun intended)! Also some insurances will only cover it if it is done at the dr's office...others only if self administered. Go figure

    I remember that 4th round.
I remember that 4th round. More than halfway done - hooray!!! I was worried about my WBC before round 6, and had just read a short piece in the NT Times that a study had shown that Swedish deep massage therapy actually raised the WBC. If you have a practioner nearby, that is something that is probably risk free.

thanks! I live in Santa Cruz, CA which is "alternative central" so we have many many choices of stuff...I will definitely get the massage. I think I even have a gift certificate I haven't used yet to a local spa! Yippee. Susan
