Back from PET/CT......
This was my first PET/CT at St. Louis U. Oh my gosh are they thorough!!! They did a head to toe PET/CT. I told them I never had one covering the entire body and didn't know it was even possible since my place never does it. We have discussed this here on the boards and I don't think anyone really came up with a reason why they don't do the entire body. Rad Onc says its all because of insurance. It's a big arguement that they ain't gonna pay to do the whole body when it's not necessary. Go figure!
I have been having headaches...so of course I think I have brain cancer.... I have been having pain in one ankle...so of course I think I have bone cancer..... I have had slight cramping in lower stomach..so of course I think there has to be cancer there too. I know you all do it too. With this head to toe scan..... it really puts your mind at ease knowing what is brewing in your ENTIRE body.
Anyway... the test results...... NO brain cancer, NO bone cancer, No stomach cancer.... the area where they performed Cyberknife... NO cancer! BUT.... there was an area that lit up in lower lobe of right lung...BUT.... Doc does not want to say positively what it is until he speaks with other oncs/rads and board in the morning. He will tell me positively by noon tomorrow. BUT...he is leaning that it is an infection...so much so that he already gave me a script for a Z-Pack antibiotic. He says with CEA on continual drop...CBC all good..no pain..no breathing problems... Lungs sound wonderful.... that tumor just don't fit... but he has to reserve judgement until tomorrow.
So... I am not getting excited yet..... but just the fact that there is NO cancer anywhere else..... Hell Ya.... I'm friggin excited about that!!!! TUNE IN TOMORROW!!!!
Thank you all for your concern!!!

yay Jennie!
Hi Jennie! I'm so glad to hear the news was so positive! I'm sure hoping that lung thing will be just an infection, as you said! Please let us know when you hear more about it. Boy, we are on such an up and down rollercoaster all the time, aren't we?!
Take care-

Great
That is a great report. Hoping that the lung thing is just an infection. The reason why no head to toe is that is a lot of radiation and even my doctor will only do the abdomen and pelvic with a chest x-ray. Also you are right, a lot of the insurance companies won't pay for it either. Good luck tomorrow.
