Well I know that Jorge and I have been having good news with his cancer . Today we had to go and see the chemo doctor he said things look good and blood is good .good right Jorge went on to tell him that we got a call to see the colon surgent on the 18th of January and told the chemo doctor I guess she wants to plan the surgery to remove the tumors and the chemo doctor told us your surgery is a with hard one to do and we asked why and he said you have lymnods around the main artery and that what's making hard . Now I have Jorge talking about dying now I don't want to do this anymore .

my darling girl....remember that the chemo doc in NOT the surgeon.....if the surgeon did not think it was a good idea there would be not surgery....the Lymph nodes may be close to the main artery but that is for the surgeon to decide....

do not freak out....hang on Tina...there will be no dying....

if the surgeon says yes we are going ahead then that is good news and you go with that....if not then some more chemo....whatever? one step at a time....

Mags I'm so scare I loss my dad 11 years ago I had to watch my mom die the day she pass away it killed me now I'm watching my husband god for sure he hates me .

I know sometimes what these doctors say is scary for us. As Mags said, it is the surgeon who will decide if surgery can safely be done at this point. If Jorge isn't ready for surgery, he can still be treated + perhaps surgery can be done at a later date. Tell Jorge dying isn't an option for a long time. Jorge has had good response to the chemo. God does not hate you (as you say in your later post). Remember, one day at a time.

Exactly what kind of surgery are you talking about. Is to remove the primary in the colon or is it liver resection?

Your Jorge is just sick and tired of being sick and tired and just when he gets his hopes up someone brings him down. Unfortunately, that is the nature of this disease. Since November my George has had 7 trips to the hospital for PET, CT, 2 liver biopsies, 1 dye test for port, 2 TPN treatments to resolve port problem, yesterday insertion of his 3rd port plus 2 oncology visits and 2 chemos that could not be done. Minor stuff in the big picture but it is enough to depress anybody and in between putting on the happy face over the holidays. Well, we got through all of it, and on Monday will be chemo again. His spirits were down but he has perked up quite a bit and your Jorge will do the same. Hope this makes sense. Your Jorge will be down for a while but he will perk up also with your help.

His tumor was in the transverse colon and was quite large so that is the reason they did it first so it didn't cause complications like blockage. He started chemo 4 weeks later.

See what the surgeon says and then weigh your options. You will need to stop chemo for several weeks at surgery time so you will have a lot to think about. I hate it when I hear people talk about doctors not agreeing so make sure you get both on the same page.

Chemo doctor and the colon doctor need to be on the same pager .I was thinking that it would be the liver and the colon on the same pager.we were hoping that the colon doctor would tell us that he is ready for the tumor to be removed on the 18 of this month . Because we were told that when your tumors are small enough that the colon doctor would see you .

Surgery
You will get through this and if they feel they are getting out the tumors it is the best thing then they will do all they can do even if the lymph nodes are involved. It sounds like you have doctors that are communicating with each other and things seem to be going according to plan. Your doctor has probably and surely dealt with this situation before. Hope that all goes well. Keep us updated.

The most wonderful thing about a colon surgeon, is, that is all they do!! Surgery on the
Colon!!! Which means their experts in their fields, which means no matter the dire possible
complications, 99.9 percent of the time everything goes fantastic, when it is a colon surgeon doing the colon surgery.
Sure, to the oncologist doctor it's complicated, heck, he isn't a surgeon, he's just the guy
that's prescribing your chemo.
So both of you slow down with these worries!!!!
Go see the colon surgeon on the 18th, and come away feeling good. Before my surgery, I was given all the possibilities, "you can bleed out, etc., etc., then they follow up with,
"But I've been doing this for years and it hasn't happened yet so your chances are highly unlikely that something awful will happen to you."
And I believed them, and yep had the surgeries, and yep, still here, healing slowly but nicely.
It's OKAY!!! It'll be OKAY!!!!

Everyone has said it so well. The colon surgeon does surgery in this area all the time. ****'s two surgeries were quite hard but he had excellent surgeons both times. Keep your hope up. I am praying for you and Jorge.

First of all I would like to thank all of you guys for helping us thru. This fight .yesterday when we walked out of the cancer center I was ok with what the doctor said to us but what got me was when jorge fell apart and cried and told me how much he loves me and then he started talking about if he passes away what he wants me to do .I'm trying to stay strong but its hard .so I had to come here to feel you guys giving me a push to keep going .I love you guys so very much and thank you very much hugs Tina

First of all God does not hate you he does not have hate in his body. Hate is something that the devil tries to get into us here on Earth. But with Faith and prayer we can keep that damn devil away and win the battles put before us. Like people have told you the chemo doctor is just that and the surgeon is the one you need to listen to. If the surgeon thinks it's ok to have the surgery then I say do it. Your husband looks young like myself and being young will certainly help in the surgery process. All the talk about him dying is him just being scared and that is totally normal but those thoughts will pass as we all have them from time to time. I remember when I was diagnosed at 38 with stage 4 in March of 2010 I thought to myself there is NO way I am going to die as I have way to much to live for. Now here I stand with colon and liver resection surgeries plus 12 rounds of chemo behind me. I will have a CT scan on FEB 1st and God willing I will hear that I am finally cancer free and I will be able to say I am NED. I will pray for your husband that things will all work out and the surgeon will do a great job to remove this terrible thing called cancer.

As the others have said, the surgeon has the final say If he says surgery is okay then, surgery it will be. If not there are other options, don't you or Jorge ever give up. Positive thinking and attitude will be your best Allies in this battle. While it can be hard, together you can do this.

Now as far as Jorge planning for the what if I die, Well let me tell you, as a man, I went through the same thing. Jorge is doing this out of his deep Love for you. Jorge is really scared right about now, fear of the unknown outcome of all this has made him think about making sure everything is taken care of ahead of time. Jorge does this because he loves you, not to scare you. Trust me he is scared enough for the both of you. Just be there for him and don't read to much into it. I actually went so far as visiting, the place where I want my ashes scattered. Sheri my wife had no idea why we went there until later. We just want to do the just in case planning, so you won't have to later. The good news is he will get through this just like I did.

Jorge is just "going through the motions" of talking out death...it's just a coping mechanism that we all use when we "think" that our time may be at hand.

Somehow, when we say "we are going to die" it seems to get it out of our system and into reality that this might happen.

Jorge needs to use this as an alarm bell - to hone his senses, get his feelings out, and then settle down and then do the surgery and see how that all goes. Too many successful surgeries are done on the board everyday.

This is new to Jorge and he is still new at what he is feeling...just let him get it out and then prop him back up and move him forward.

We can't worry about dying too much until we have fought long and hard and exhausted all of our options. Options still abound with Jorge and if the surgeon feels good about it, then both of you should feel good about it.

I've had many majors and made it through - and Winter is our latest classic example of a success story.

Jorge is really scared because he's walking down the "Path of the Unknown." And that's a scary road to walk down when you have not walked it before.

Eventually, he'll buck up and come to terms with this and realize that a good surgical chance is a Million Dollar Ticket - it's what we all fight for. No time to run from it, rather it's time to embrace it and meet the challenge head on.

I've mentioned before that you both will come through this and wonder how you did it.

Don't shirk from the responsibility - go head long, full force, and attack. One day there will be a different kind of post from you - one that reports a successful story and bright new future.

Now, tell Jorge, it will be alright - and it will, Tina.

I know it is hard, but try to stay positive and keep going forward. I know how Jorge feels and it is all so overwhelming at times and, yes, we all think about death sometimes, too. I have a good cry and then get back up and keep fighting and living each day. Jorge needed to get the anxiety and emotions out and now he can continue to move forward. He is so blessed to have you by his side. Don't give up...things will get better.

Tina, l don't understand your post ,probably due to my bad
English ,so let me do some questions , if you are talking about colon what has it to do with lymph nodes? , concerning to lymph nodes all of us have lymph nodes close to main arteries so I understand the nodes you are talking must be affected by cancer and must be removed is that right? even that why not operate the primary cancer and then see other options for nodes ( there are)?The onc words where in agreement with surgeon or just it's own opinion?Onc use to be much less optimistic than surgeons concerning to surgery!.Did you already speak to surgeon?.Conncerning to Jorge's worries and argues about dying , l do it nearly every week with my wife since two years ago and her answer is..... laughing and laughing and l must tell you that l appreciate it!.
Obviously is a hard surgery as it is liver or any other major surgery but....look Winter Marie! That was a big big big one and yesterday she was sweeping her house! hahahaha!.
