I will be having a colonoscopy. I've had a few in the past and would like to know what prep you guys have taken. My problem is, the gallon jug of stuff you have to drank. It makes me sick and i can never drank it all. The last time I had this procedure, they gave me pills (30 or 40) and I did well with those, but now i'm hearing the doc will not give pills because they could damage the kidneys. There has to be something better than the gallon jug. I love pepsi, but I could not drank a gallon of that at one time. It's not so much the taste of the medicine but the amount. Any thoughts. I'll see my doctor tomorrow and discuss it with him but I'm not expecting anything new.

Mine was 4 dulcolax and then 64 ozs of Gatoraide (or propel water) mixed with a 248L (14 day supply) of miralax. It did the job. Supposed to drink at least 8 ozs every 15 minutes until gone, but if it makes you sick you can spread it out. It started at 6:00 and you were to finish all of it by 10:00 p.m. Good luck.

I use the miralax and gatorade mix also. Along with 4 lax pills. As mentioned above, you can start earlier so you dont have to try and drink it so quickly, and also, when you start to pass clear or light yellow liquid only you can stop drinking it, you are cleaned out at this point, this comes straight from my doc.

Same problem....
I can't do the new stuff either. Last scope I tried it and threw it up 20mins into it. It's not so much the taste, I think, but the texture of it. It's like drinking a gallon of snot(sorry for the graphic analogy.) I fast from lunchtime the day before. Then go to the Miralax mixed with Minutemaid lemonade around 5pm and keep going until we're clear. Get up the next morning, do the scope, and then find an all-you-can-eat buffet somewhere! Most Gastros won't recommend that, but that's what I tolerate. So, that's what he has to deal with. Yes, the pills are frowned upon now because of the kidney issues. I was actually awake for my last one and watched it on the monitor. Wasn't 100% clean as a whistle, but nothing the occasional flush of water didn't resolve. Not sure if any method cleans you out 100%. Good luck!

Prep:
I had a routine colonoscopy (hubby the one with cancer) last November. Did the Ducolax then Gatoraide and Miralax mix and it was quite tolerable. It is just a lot to drink, your stomach is full but you have to keep on drinking. Takes a little longer to work, in my opinion, than the gallon jug stuff, so start a little early so you can get to bed at a reasonable time.

Colon Prep
I've used the dulcolax and miralax with either Gatorade or Crystal Lite. I don't recommend lemonade flavor as it gets too acidic by the time you're finished. Took me a while before I could drink lemonade again! it's really not too bad - eat lightly the day before too and it will be a lot easier on your system.0
