Half way thru my chemo and will begin radiation after the last treatment - Uterine Carcinosarcoma

My third chemo treatment is Wednesday Jan 5th, my 4th treatment is Jan 26 and my 5th is February 16 and the last one is March 16th. I learned today though that I am to undergo radiation after my last chemo treatment. Radiation will be 5 days a week (weekends off) for 5 to 6 weeks. My rare uterine Carcinosarcoma is an aggressive cancer and should be treated aggressively. I had a complete hysterectomy mid-October 2010 and learned I had stage IIIC Uterine Carcinosarcoma cancer. They got all the cancer during surgery. I cannot find many survivors of this type of cancer and would love to hear from anyone who knows of someone etc.

thanks ... Judi

Sorry to hear of your Diagnosis

    Dear Judi,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis and hope you are coping.

I too had hysterectomy in October and just finished three rounds of chemo.

Soon to begin radiation but cant' decide whether to have full pelvic IMRT PLUS brachtherapy or just the latter. (Are you also scheduled for brachtherapy? And did you do all your chemo upfront--before radiation? (I was prescribed the sandwich regime but have no idea which regimen is more effective.)

My stage was IB with clear pelvic lymph nodes but tumor invaded 60 percent of myometrium, so probably I should have both kinds of radiation; I have had conflicting second opinions.

But although this IS an aggressive cancer, a few have posted who have survived it for four to five years even at your more advanced stage; saw two who had survived eight to ten years, so keep your hopes up and let's hope for breakthroughs in treatment!
