New pain?

Hey Ladies, Miss Paranoid here.

Ok I have encountered a new pain that I really don't understand, and it's really frustrating me. With this last relapse I had a biopsy taken from my left armpit, actually it's just on the outer edge of my breast. For about the last 24 hours I have been having very uncomfortable pain/discomfort in this vicinity. I can't really tell if it's in the breast or close to the scar. It's to the point that wearing a bra is driving me crazy. Taking the bra off does not relieve it.

My mom died of breast cancer, I have cancer. I am really freaking myself out here. Have any of you had a biopsy in this area or experienced these kind of sensations?

Thanks,
Beth

    pain????
    Beth,
I have never had a biopsy of a lymph node. Just wondering if the removal of the node could have damaged any nerves in that area. I know all pain is sent thru the nervous system called receptors and sensors. Cutting a nerve should stop any pain being relayed to the brain, but damage nerves can send pain signals to the brain. Its just an idea, but could explain what you are feeling. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    Biopsy
John, I am sure there were several nerves in the area that were affected. Actually before I had the surgery I was advised that there could be lasting numbness and feeling loss that may or may not be permanent and possible lymphadonapoly (sp). For a long time afterwards I felt like I had my shirt bunched up in my armpit that I couldn't straighten out. I even had numbness on the outer edge of my arm, it was the strangest thing. Most of the numbness and tingling feeling was especially bad in the mornings, but it really was months before I noticed improvement.

I do occasionally still have minor issues now and then, but nothing like after the surgery. The pain I am having now isn't really the same, this hurts where the other was annoying as hell. Well, this is quickly becoming annoying.

I'll bring it up to my onc this Thursday, but I hate giving him one more area to feel up LOL.

Take care, and have a great New Year!

    I do...
    Hi Beth,
Kind of weird you posted this today....earlier this morning I told Steve...left side of my breast close to the arm pit felt sore and swollen..so much so that I didn't wear a bra when we went to brunch at my sons. Just wore a bulky sweat shirt with a T-shirt beneath. It's not as sore tonight, so now I'm thinkin it's sore from putting away all of the decorations. When I first knowticed it though, my mind immediately went to that "dark scary place". Hate it how this stupid cancer at times puts me in a tail spin. Your not being paranoid Beth...well..maybe a little, but as far as I'm concerned, this is going to be a part of our "New Normal"...like it or not.UGH! Anyways...if the pain keeps up be sure to get it checked out...thats what I'll do also...double UGH!..ha!
    Love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)
P.S..My biopsy was done on my left side in the groin.

    Not paranoid
    Hi Beth
You are not any more paranoid than all of us. It's normal. I had three lymp nodes taken out under my arm in Feb 2009 and occasionally I feel a pain. Just ask the Dr. next time you see him. I used to go with a long list of questions. It's been 18 months since chemo and I have Rituxin every 12 weeks. Every ache and every pain makes me think something is coming back. YOU ARE NORMAL. May this year bring only GOOD NEWS and less anxiety to you. God Bless you.

    Pain in that area too
    Beth,

We are ALL paranoid here! I can empathize with you of the pain - funny too like Sue, in the past few days, my upper arm and incision where lymph node was biopsied, my port area, and this area's breast muscles are real sore - very sore and unfortunately it is my right dominant arm - should have told dr. to do it on non-dominant arm in the first place!! It has always been little sore and numb, though. Took Tylenol. Yeah, too much moving around and due to low blood counts - gotta rest. Sigh..

Hope you feel better, have it checked out in case and I'll be thinking of you,
    Hugs,
    Liz
