recommendation for "biography of cancer" book

I just finished a fascinating book called "The Emperor of All maladies, A Biography of Cancer" by Siddhartha Mukherjee. I saw it on NY Times list of 10 best books of 2010. I am not a science geek and my typical reading is fiction, mostly suspense and mystery. But I could hardly put this book down -certainly as a cancer patient but also due to the fascinating tale he weaves-all the way back to medieval times thru Nixon's "War on Cancer" to the founding of the NCI and the American Cancer Society, the power wielded by the Breat Cancer folks, etc. Some of the cellular science was tough going but he does explain things very well for the layperson. And the personalities of famous scientists and researchers, the wrong paths taken, political infighting and such reads almost like fiction at times.

Will have to check out.Lisa13Q said:Sounds Fascinating
Too bad there has to be so much politics involved in finding a cure for this disease...I'll have to pick up a copy. Thanks for the recommendation and Merry Christmas!!
Sound great. I went on our library website and reserved it.
Thanks for the info.
