I want to start taking Probiotics...NOW...or sooner. I won't be seeing a specialist for another 3 weeks for help on that. I want to start NOW...not in 3 weeks. Can those of you who are on regular Probiotics tell what you take..and how much? I checked out the PB8 capsules but there was so many different kinds... like veggie???...I didn't know EXACTLY what I need to be looking for. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Jennie

I was advised to take 40
I was advised to take 40 billion units of probiotics daily, which combined Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis. I bought any ones I found with at least those two strains in them.

    Probiotics
My brother-in-law is a chiropractor into wholistic health. He sent me probiotics after my dx. The oncology dietician told me not to take them during chemo, as there were too many bacteria types and too high of counts. She told me instead to eat organic Greek yogurt, and recommended a few brands. I took her advice for a while, but after several tx, and getting thrush every cycle, I finally went against advice and started taking probiotics again. I did tell my doctor so they know I do take them.

When I ran out I bought a different brand at GNC, similar bacteria types and counts. But it dind't work as well for me. My sister sent me more of the ones I had last year, and they really do make a difference for me in controlling diarrhea, and thrush.

    The brand is Ortho Biotics.

    Ortho Molecular - Ortho
    Ortho Molecular - Ortho Biotics

There are 7 microbes in our digestive system. This has all 7 Probiotics and is medical grade. This is a Probiotic made in the USA and is of high quality. (I sound like I work for them.) Trader Joes also has a good Probiotic that is made in the USA. Made in the USA is important to assure quality.

    Best Always, mike

Here is what I was using
    Jennie,

I was using Jarro-Dophilus EPS which are made in Canada. My sister recommended them because her friend who also had CRC used them with much success. I haven't needed them lately but they did work well. They have 8 strains of bacteria and 5 billion organisms per capsule. As a side note they are vegetarian if that matters to you or others. I got mine from the Vitamin Shoppe. Happy Holidays.
