Hair loss

Has anyone else lost there hair from cisplating chemo, I am not doing radiation at this time but my hair has been falling out.

    Hair be gone
    Hi Brad, losing hair is one of the side effects of chemo, cisplatin included. When I began to lose a bit, I just took my handy beard and moustache trimmer and ran it over my head til my hair was gone. I didn't want to mess with it, and it was one less thing to worry about. It varies--sure you've heard that before--from one person to another. Some don't lost their hair, but I get the impression that more do. It grows back.

    Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow....
    Not sure if the temporary hairloss was from the Cisplatin, Taxotere, 5FU or Carboplatin...but definitely, the hair I lost from the radition, isn't making much of a return.

    I loss all of my hair, head, body, beard, underarms, and the rest of those places.... It all came back except the areas where radiation hit it hardest.

    The lower few inches on the very back of my neck, quite a bit of my beard on the right side under my chin. The beard is thinner than before, but it's not that big of deal. I wear my hair trimmed pretty short anyways...

    Unfortunatley, the first to return are those old tough gray hairs that you wish would go away anyways, and of course the spots that you'd rather not have hair in at all...LOL

    Hair loss
    The cisplatin had very little effect on my hair. It was the rads that whacked my beard and took the hair off the back of my head so I had a Moe Howard 'do.
    But everyone is different. My chemo doc ("Chemical Alice") had warned me my hair might fall out, but it didn't. And, it's all come back now, including my beard.
    Good luck. And when you get down to it, does hair really matter?

    I too lost most of my body hair but not so much on my head, it was thin but I was still able to brush it. Most of the hair on my face where I did the rads never did come back.

    Extreme thinning
    I had the cisplatin chemo, in three two-day infusions concurrently with 8 weeks of radiation.

    Didn't lose all my hair, but it thinned to less than half of what i started with, and got very dry and brittle. Hair on the back of my head from the nape to above my ear tops was burned off by the radiation. The hair lost to radiation has returned darker in color, and kinky curly (think pubic hair here... bummer...). Hair on the top of my head still seems to be thinner and finer than it was before, but it's getting thicker.

    I was only on Citsplatin
    I felt like the dog during treatments. Everytime I got up there was hair where I was.
    My hair thinned, but I did not have any bald spots from Cisplatin. I did have a bald spot from the radiation. I should mention that I had very thick hair to begin with, not so much anymore.

    Getting your hair back is kind of cool though, kind of like going through puberty again, LOL....

    Cisplatin caused my hair to thin out. However, radiation at base of my head caused total hair loss. My hair is now growing back & is two inches long at the base of my neck.

    Wow, that seems like a long time, Roz. Maybe I'm used to my hair. It grows over an inch to two a month. To keep my hair pixie short I should get trimmed ever six weeks max. I try and stretch it to 8 or 9 weeks cause it's expensive to get it cut, colored and highlighted.

    Exceptional
    I already knew you are exceptional Dawn....usually I think on the average hair grows about 1/2" per month.

    about hair loss
    I got a small area where my hair is either gone or its really thinned out from what my wife as been telling me and I had chemo and radiation and this is after 5 months treatments.
