I began chemo today, and so far, I feel fine. It's just so much to go through before actually getting the chemo. I had to eat ice chips to prevent sores in my mouth. Would someone please let me know if I'm jumping the gun or am I going to experience symptoms later?

    Hi alapah
Thank you so much. I've been thinking of you too. How did your road trip go? I hope you found some new options.

I am really getting scared. The cancer is still growing in my lungs and cutting my air ways off. I'm on oxygen now because my oxygen levels are very low. I'm praying this chemo is going to work for me. My onco is telling me that this is basically my last option. But earlier this year, he was telling me, I could live with it for years and it would be ok.

Stay strong, and I'm praying for you too.

    i'm back
i did a crazy drive across the west and just returned home last week. visited family, many friends and went to some places i've often wanted to see. it was an excellent break.

i did also go to Houston to meet with Dr. Sherman at MD Anderson. He agrees with the course my Mayo docs have come up with - so I am on a watch for now with CT of neck and chest every six months. next ones are in February. so, in that sense, no new options really. i have mostly good days really so that works for now.

I'm sorry to hear that the initial chemo failed to help. I pray your current regimen provides many gains. best to you!

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. It sounds like it was fun and a much needed break. I'm glad MD Anderson and Mayo are working for you. Stay positive and God bless.

I will say a prayer for you tonight. I know this scaring but hang in there. I can tell you one thing I make sure I do everyday to give my cells a boost of oxygen and protein. 2/3 cups of cottage cheese, 6 TBS of Flax seed oil (Barlean's) this is the very best and berries & nuts, I usually use a banana and then I blend either in a blender or I have a magic bullet. It is pretty good and this will add oxygen supply to the cells. Take once a day divided into 2 doses. This combo gets to the cell membrane increases the oxygen level in the cell and can also increase cellular energy production.

I know you may have a hard time eating but if you can do this it really will be helpful to you because protein is so important when dealing with cancer. Also, try to limit your intake of sugar. Sugar is the fuel for cancer. I hope this advice helps you. I hope I hope I am not too over bearing.

I will be thinking of you. Debby

Debby. Of course you're not too overbearing....
I appreciate any advice I can get. You're right. I know I have to eat and keep up the protein. I unfortunately, ended up in the hospital Christmas night because I had'nt eaten much all day. In spite of cooking all day, I didn't have an appetite at all. I made myself eat an orange and a piece of toast Xmas morning because I am diabetic also. But I couldn't eat dinner. After my family left, I was going to use my nebulizer for my breathing. But, I bottomed out and went into some type of cold spell. I became shivering cold and couldn't get warm. I had to call my daughter, and she called the ambulance and them to my house. My sugar was extremely low. They found out I had a fever and a bacterial infection. The chemo had made my blood count drop. I just came home yesterday evening. I glad to be here for the New Year. Thank you so much for your support, and Happy New Year.

    Hi Eileen
Thank you so much Eileen. I was admitted in the hospital Christmas night and I just came home yesterday. My blood sugar and my blood levels dropped really low and I contracted a bacterial infection. I was supposed to do my next round of chemo monday. But, I have wait until the infection is gone before we reschedule. I've lost my hair which has depressed me somewhat. But I thank God I'm here. Thanks again, and enjoy the New Year.
