Please Give Me Advice

Hi Everyone,
First of all, I am so thankful that I stumbled onto this board! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, because thyroid cancer really stinks! Here is a short summary of my story: I had a total thyroidectomy on Nov. 10, 2010 for papillary thyroid cancer. The surgeon also removed 1 lymph node, which turned out to be cancerous. I am scheduled for RAI Dec. 16, 2010 and a full body scan Dec. 27, 2010. Yesterday I found another lump in my neck. What should I do? My fiance suggested calling my endocrinologist, but I'm afraid he'll make me put off my RAI, and I desperately want to get back to having energy again. I have a little less than 3 months to finish planning my wedding, so I want to get back to normal. Any advice?

You need to talk to the endo
I understand your desire to get the energy back, etc. but if it is a lump related to your cancer, that dose of RAI you'll be getting probably won't be enough to treat it. I think you'd have the potential to be wasting that RAI opportunity in a way. If it happens to be node or nodule it likely needs to be removed before the RAI in order for that dose to be most effective. Maybe it is just a lymph node acting up, and not cancerous. Either way, I'd recommend checking in with the endo.

Your Finance is right. Go see your Endocrinologist with this new finding - in could be nothing or he will send you for another ultrasound. This is important, its your life. I know it is scaring but you have to put your fairs aside for now. Good Luck I am sure everything will be fine. Let me know what happens.

I would go get it checked out. The earlier that a diagnosis is made the better.
