Heparin Allergy- Seeking alternative anticoagulant for port?

Hi Everyone. My dad, Dave, just had his powerport installation a few hours ago. Unfortunately, his heart rate went up during the surgery. The doctor thought it was just anxiety at first, but his heartrate is not going down. They think he might have an allergy to Heparin, the anti-coagulant that they used (and will continue to use after each chemo treatment). They are keeping him overnight for precaution. Seeing as how he will need to have anticoagulants during treatments, we will need to find an alternative. Has anyone here had a Heparin allergy? If so, what are you using? Any advice is SO greatly appreciated!!

I am allergic to heparin the
I am allergic to heparin the cure for me was that they hit me up with benadryl and let me soak for about twenty minutes before the shot of heparin. Seemed to work fine for me.

Heparin Allergy
Thanks for the tip...how did you become aware that you were allergic to Heparin? My Dad has elevated heart rate, the hospital is keeping him overnight to watch...

Elevated heart rate also,
Elevated heart rate also, headache, on edge feeling , throat closed up and hard to get a breath.

I don't know if I have a heparin allergy
I have never been on heparin. My power port uses saline solution only, no heparin.
