good idea but difficult to implement...
I am hoping that even though folks have not responded directly to this thread, the idea has prompted them to put a 'second in charge' be it one of us here or a family member who will post if there is a need.

Honestly, I think I'm left out...or at least, I have no idea what you guys are talking about as "buddy list"? Hm? What happens when people pick a "buddy"? If I can choose, I'd choose Buzzard, if he is OK with that...he helped me so much back when I was in a battle with cancer...[I failed...they won....] Anyway, what is this whole buddy list thing is, anyone? o.O0 -

Just a Thought.....
This is a good idea, but it does contain one problem that none of us can ever predict.
What happen when our "buddy" gets too sick and does not respond to emails or phone calls?
Eric38 and I tried to be each other's advocates back when I joined the board...it worked ok for awhile. I went to see him in the hospital and would report if he wanted me to and could not. And he visited me in the hospital and kept everyone updated as well.
Then one day, Eric started to get very sick and our communication stopped. I knew he was fighting very hard with his treatments - and sometimes he would get a post out to you guys and I'd think that was great.
But there were times when he was too weak to return a PM or return a phone call - when that happens the buddy system will not function.
And all of us can be in such a difficult health situation at any moment. Rushed off to hopsitals, emergency surgeries, just taking a break from cancer, or whatever...
So, perhaps in conjunction with this, it's a real good to have a good member of your family or a close friend that could do this for you, as they see you in person on a more daily basis.

Sorry, I think I hold the record for last picked on the dodge ball teams. (honestly, I swear, I would watch where I walked so I wouldn't step on an ant and hurt it, and they wanted me to throw a ball, on purpose, to hurt someone??? just couldn't do it)

Okay, so maybe we need to report in/role call -- calling all lurkers, state what stage you are in and what state you live in. And we will then pair up. I can do a spread sheet.

I'll take a buddy, but I agree with Craig that we need to have a family member or friend armed with password info and such to be able to come in and report if something happens to us. I'm one of those people who HATES to lose contact with people in my life, and I hate thinking that one of our friends here might be gravely ill or have passed away, and we just never know what happened.
*hugs*

I spelled it out along with my other important wishes...like throwing the BIGGEST party possible with my life insurance money....no tears allowed!!!!
Also, my daughter, who was my caregiver, knows to do this if I am sick.
GREAT idea!!!
