Received good news today!

Reminder: Results of 6 weeks of carbo and 18 weeks of taxol protocol from April 28th to the end of August...profuse and numerous new tumor growth throughout my abdomen and pelvis including on the vaginal cuff and on the sigmoid colon. Given 10 external radiation treatments to stop the vaginal cuff tumor from bleeding and hopefully shrink it, as well as the tumor on the sigmoid colon. Didn't start systemic chemo (GEMZAR...once a week for 3 weeks/ 1 week off)again until 10/29. Med Onc wanted to add avastin to the protocol every other week but this has been disapproved by my insurance company. Doc still pursuing approval. In addition, a clot was seen in my right gonoidal vein for which I am taking self administered anticoagulant shots...1/day.

Took an abdominal and pelvic CT scan on Saturday. The doc's concern was that there could be more growth because of the lack of chemo administration during the time of radiation etc. Well, I received a call from her today and was told that there is NO new growth and that some of the tumors shrunk and there is no evidence of the blood clot! Pretty amazing, huh? Hearing that the evidence of disease was better than "status quo" was such a gift today. "Status quo"...imagine hoping and praying to remain no worse than the last scan. Well, that's what the docs and I have been minimally hoping for. I feel pretty good and can maintain a decent quality of life. So, I am basking in the good news that my prayers were answered!

Peace and hope, JJ

JJ so happy to hear your news
Glad you got some good news. Sorry the insurance company did not approve Avastin. Sure do not understand insurance companies. Glad you blood clot is gone. It can't be fun giving yourself daily blood thinner shots. So glad your prayers have been answered. In peace and caring.

    YIPEEEEE!
You always havesuch a kind attitude and you deserve this happiness. My GynOnc's husband (he is also GynOnc) told me 30% of the time serous cancer is "just gone." He is the only one who told me that and I've never read it. But he is very good at what he does. It's something to keep in the back of our minds and hearts.
    Love,

    Wow!
Wow, Diane, imagine if we all heard, "Your cancer is just gone!" My gyn onc calls it a "goofy" cancer that doesn't follow the rules! Let's all hope and prayer that the "Goofies" just decided to be gone!

"Goofies be gone!"...the new battle cry!

    Peace and hope, JJ
