a little tmi
You're so funny Brooks!
Seriously, lying on one's left side does supposedly line everything in the digestive system up just right. One time a few years back I was having horrible stabbing pains with gas and what I thought felt like a twisted colon. My doc told me to lie on my left side with a heating pad & it actually did get better on its own.
Also, when women are pregnant, we're told (or at least my ob/gyn dr) said to sleep on our left side- it's best for the position of the baby, placenta, all the organs, etc.
So, sleep on your left side and fart away, Brooks- it's probably good for you!

Hey Brookie...
One evening
Hey Brookie...
One evening a family brings their frail, elderly mother to a nursing
home and leave her, hoping she will be well cared for.
The next morning, the nurses bathe her, feed her a tasty breakfast,
and set her in a chair at a window overlooking a lovely flower garden.
She seems OK, but after a while she slowly starts to lean over
sideways in her chair.
Two attentive nurses immediately rush up to catch her and straighten
her up.
Again she seems OK, but after a while she starts to tilt to the other side.
The nurses rush back and once more bring her back upright.
This goes on all morning.
Later the family arrives to see how the old woman is adjusting to
her new home.
"So Ma, how is it here? Are they treating you all right?" they ask.
"It's pretty nice," she replies. "Except they won't let you fart."0 -

You should fart every time your turn from side to side, front to back, as you release gasses with your body movements. Try it!0 -
But...
But can you play tunes while you're on your left side??? A symphony perhaps?
I realized I havent't "farted" in a couple of months, does this mean I'm no longer full of SHI@?????

I always lie on my right side in a fetal position. Thank you Brooks for the info. Going to try the left side & see if I can eliminate some of this hot air..LOL

fart on the side position
Yes, I noticed I fart with great loudness that lasts a very long time. I had to fart at work this afternoon, so i went to the bathroom and nothing happened. I remembered lying on my side, i get instant relief. i walked out to my car, pretending I needed to grab something from the back seat, layed on my side and Presssssssto, Long long long and and very loud flatulations, similar to a Didgeridoo

I'll be 60 in a week, 3 1/2 years from any treatments/cancer surgery, and I still have to walk wide from the crowd during a bout of the put-puts. At least it's controlled enough that I can pick my spots, it feels more a product of ageing than from where I've been, now. Tru is right though, there is a lot of bittersweet feelings that come with these old threads.................................................Dave
