My husband has stage IV lung cancer and has gone through almost every chemo available. He is now on Gemzar and now has a Port. (he would not agree to one until Gemzar was started because he had heard horror stories about infection). He has had the port now for aproximately 4 months and guess what.......he now has infection in it. Our oncologist started him on intraveinous antibiotics yesterday and had the port removed. What am I up for now? He's been running a fever for about 4 days now.
