Well today I went to get my post check up with the ENT and I also had my hearing test done. Lets say I pretty much failed the hearing test with the low and high pitches I cant really hear so my ENT doctor wants me to get hearing aids due the mount of damage was done with chemo and radiation and ENT doctor said the hearing will not improve either or its not going to get worst.

I highly suggest people who had NPC or any head and neck cancer get your hearing checked after chemo and radiation.

    what?
Yea, mine's going also. I have a test next week to see how much and if we're going to continue with Cisplatin. Music just hasn't sounded right for awhile now until I put on Pink Floyd's album Animals last night. I think maybe Pink Floyd doesn't use any of the notes that I can't hear anymore. It was as awesome and wonderful as always. Felt so good to slip away into the music. Maybe there's an album for you too Tim. My best to you and your hearing.

    Huh????
Me too. Audiologist suggests hearing aids, but I'm doing ok without them - just learned to read lips. Going to wait til I'm a year post treatment before I decide to get them or not. Music was annoying for me too at first. Slowly has gotten better though. Just the guitar solos and the high pitched voices that sounds bad now. And for some reason I can never hear when my wife is calling me to help her with the laundry?????

Positive thoughts going out to you and hopefully we'll all get a bit more back as time moves on.

    about the hearing aids
Well I called up my insurance today to see if they would cover the hearing aids and they told me no so I dont think I am going to get them since they cost around 4k and I dont have 4k right now since I am still paying 6k in medical bills plus other bills.

    Say Again?
Sorry about your hearing. I was told I needed hearing aids about 6 mos out of TX. I have terrible tinnitus, hearing loss, and hate parties. Any place with background noise is difficult. And I also could not believe the cost! I will wait a year or so, maybe they will go on sale! Lol! Blessings, Patty

    hearing aids
don't give up on getting them because of insurance. they will tell you know until you quit...but because you have a doctor who says it is medically necessary due to a medical procedure they should not be able to reject your claim...summit it over and over again. then have your doctor submit it and talk to them. they will jerk you around because that is what they have to do. one of the ladies I used to work with had to submit her claim 10 times, but they paid it in the end!
    good luck.

    Hi Tim

You are so right; my hearing has been getting worse as time goes by. I am on my second pair of hearing aids at this time, it is a pain but I look at it as life being so sweet just being alive. My wife and I are planning on learning sign language just in case I need it is someday.

    All the best to you
