Next installment.............the wonder of anti-sick meds

Right, I ended up going back to the pharmacy a third time for a third set of anti-sickness meds. I never realised there were so many different types and the way they affect and control the nausea is amazing. So I now have Ondansetron (Zofran) - these block the "sicky" messages being transmitted from the stomach to the brain. I am also on Cyclizine (Valoid) - these are anti-histamine.
I feel so much better and I offered a prayer of thanks (I'm not religious but I always acknowledge when He has given me a helping hand)
I have never heaved or vomitted so much in my life and I am now left with VERY sore insides and whenever I eat/drink and swallow it is painful. However, that is preferrable to the truely awful feeling of constant nausea I had before.
Now I am left with HEARTBURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone know how long that will last???????? I have meds for it but the taste makes me feel sick all over again.
sob sob ...... I will be so glad to be rid of all of this once my body settles down.

Sobbing with you
Gosh Tina,
You need a break. 'Hoping they get this figured out soon. I think my dose of Doxil must be lower or they are really loading you up! I'm embarrassed to say I'm not feeling this right now. Now next time may be another story! Take care, feel better soon, Ginny0 -
Anti-Nausea / Heartburn
Tina,
I have had so many different chemo treatments over the last 4 1/2 years and several types of anti-nausea meds. My doctor has given me Zofran, Aloxi and Reglan before the treatment for nausea and I have them at home for after the treatments. He has also given me Pepcid as a pre-med before the treatment for heartburn. It is over the counter and I take that at home also. They all worked for me but the Zofran caused more constipation than Aloxi. The Reglan was given to me after I had bowel surgery and it did not cause constipation. The Pepsid works the best for me for the heartburn. I hope this helps you but it sounds like the Zofran sounds like it's working for you.

so sorry
that you'd had to suffer like this. Maybe they will adjust your dosage of doxil? I didn't have the nausea, but I get zofran in my pre-meds. It's amazing how each of us have different reactions to the meds. Hang in there and here's hoping you get great results that will make this all worth while.

Morning Tina,
So sorry to see the nausea is getting to you.
When on Doxil; I didn't experience the nausea but am glad to hear there are
meds out there that are finally helping.
