you can't sleep by night ? don't they prescribe there marijuanaLori-S said:Well
Since I can't sleep at night while on chemo... waz up with that? .... if I do fall asleep I wake myself up with such bad night sweats and alternate between hot and freezing ... So, I figured I'd sleep during the day and read at night. I pulled Tales of Power by Carlos Castenada off the shelf and I'm going to try and read it. Since a quick trip to the market today wore me out (sheesh!) I'm going to hole up with tea, crackers, pudding and jello snacks and my book. And like last chemo weekend, I'm thinking of doing laundry ... remember how well that went? hahahaha
to cancer patients? they do here and seems is good to sleep!

Here in the United States. Medical Marijuana is only legal in 14 States and The District of Columbia. ( Washington DC ). Most Cancer Patients do not have access to this treatment.
I have been lucky enough to be able to sleep ( A lot ) through the course of the treatment although I am finding myself to be much more awake at night these days. I usually keep my computer nearby and just go online until I fall asleep.
Hope you are sleeping well!

Sorry you can't sleep at night....I slept all the time until a week or so ago ( My 12th Folfox treatment was in early October ) Now I am waking up at night.
I guess I was lucky not to get the night sweats....I remember my husband was not thrilled last Spring when I would make the bedroom really cold and then sleep under an electric blanket! ( He now sleeps in another room.....my severe nausea, vomitting and trots may have contributed to this! ) The pump can also be so much fun at night!
Reading is good....I used to read constantly, but I rarely read anymore. I would stay up all night reading!
Good luck with the laundry...I rarely do that either. When my kids were young I made them do their own laundry ( We had some real disasters! ) My husband also does his own laundry. I guess I am one mean mother??? ( I had read somewhere that the kids should start doing laundry when they are tall enough to reach the bottom of the washer. I am short and can't reach the bottom, so I figured my kids were ready!! )
Glad you have food nearby. There were days where I was ill-prepared and had no food until my family returned home from work ( I was too exhausted to leave my bedroom ) I managed to eat lots of prepackaged Tuna kits and little jello cups. Twizzlers also seemed to be good.
I also managed to become severely dehydrated, so keep drinking anything that you can get down!
Hope you got some rest!!

I'm in Las Vegas ... the law here is so funny for medical marijuana. First you have to go through getting the medical card; doctors have to sign off on the right paperwork with the right diagnosis, then have to have it certified by a group here where you get your picture and fingerprints taken and info verified, then have to submit so many copies to the health department, then have to wait for approval, then have to pick the card up, at of all places, your local department of motor vehicles. I only know this because I helped someone get one. The total cost for the card was around $700 from start to finish. It is good for 2 years, I think. It allows you to have 1 ounce in your possession BUT, it is still illegal for you to purchase marijuana in the state of Nevada. You can't smoke or consume then go out in public, you can't have marijuana and a gun in the same place at the same time, of course you can't smoke in public or smoke and drive at the same time or drive within 4 hours of smoking and 8 hours of consuming. I don't think that people with a medical card actually follow all the legal restrictions ... how could they? I think it's stupid to allow someone the use of it but throw them in jail for purchasing it???
Pepe, like you, I don't like the stuff at all. Tried it in my teens. Doesn't matter if smoke or eat ... way too strong for me and I hate the feeling. I am such a chemical light weight ... My body doesn't like any additives. I take a 1/2 sleeping pill and it takes me days to recover.0 -

The funny thing is that my days get turned around. I can sleep during the day but, not at night. And even when I do sleep, I'm so tired but can't sleep for more than about 2 hours at a time. I love when I wake up to run to the bathroom and forget that my pump is still laying in bed ... yank! It's really like a bad relationship ... "Hey, where you think you're going without me?". And it makes a funny little noise that sounds like there's an upset bird outside the window. I think I actually got up to check out the window once.
The weekend before chemo, I do my shopping to hole up. I kind of now know what works for me. And since jello is considered liquid, I try to have the ones that you don't have to refrigerate stacked up so I can get something in my stomach and hydrate at the same time. I'm thinking of maybe trying to make my own next weekend but, I'm afraid it would just melt if I leave it out. I have to say that I am so sick of some things that I used to love like hot chocolate and chamomille tea. Now, I'm just waiting for the "I hate jello, too" to start.0 -

We were at the Met on Wednesday night for the performance (between my 2 days of appointments at Sloan Kettering). What great fun! The only negative was that the conductor, James Levine, took ill mid-performance and had to leave. I hope he was back on the podium for your performance today.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
And I hope you move towards better news and good health.
Thinking of you,

When my mom wad dxnd I looked at my sis and said " who is going to get mom the cannibus?" She said "what is cannibus? And I told her and we both roared with laughter, since both of uS are very str8t laced. We couldn't imagine us getting it , but my mom never got that sick for us to investigate if we were in the legalized states for medical marijuana, but we both remember that time in the hospital.

Not much is going on for me this weekend. Tonight my husband + youngest daughter went to my Mom's birthday party + my oldest daughter came home to keep me company. I was too tired to go the party; I had chemo on Tuesday + I am still recovering. Tomorrow my younger daughter + husband are off to watch the Maple Leaf hockey (our local NHL team)at their skills competition. A friend is dropping in tomorrow. And we will watch the CFL (Canadian Football League) quarter finals.0
