IGRT 2400 rads... Does it work?

My fiance has mets to the spine C5, C6, C7, T1, T3, and T10. He received IGRT-2400rads-one time blast to C5 and C6 about a month and a half ago at Sloan Kettering. He has had no pain relief! The doctor who originally said he would have immediate pain relief says to continue to wait for the pain to go away. We met with another Dr who says the one time treatment is terrible and should never be performed and that we probably ruined our chances of getting more radiation to the near-by tumors. Does anyone know anything about this treatment?
