Bile Duct Cancer

My mother is 54 and has in the last month been diagnosed with Stage IV Bile Duct cancer. It has spread to her liver and lymph nodes. She is in the second week of her first round of chemo. The doctors have told her that with the chemo she has a year, with out it 3 months. They said she would be on chemo for the rest of her life. They are not able to operate to remove the cancer.
It seems nearly impossible to find other people who either have Bile Duct cancer, or are the caregiver for someone with this type of cancer. Its very "gloom and doom" on cancer sites for this prognosis.
I would love to hear from anyone who is fighting this same fight. I would LOVE any advice on how to best support my mom at this time, or help understanding what her journey could look like.
Thank you.

Bile Duct Cancer
My mom is in the same situation. She was diagnosed with stage IV bile duct cancer, spread to liver and lymph nodes, early in November. If she hadn't gone to the doctor with gallstone pain, who knows how long she would have gone without knowing. She started chemo today. She is on gamzar and carboplatin (I think) and her oncologist pointed out how rarely chemo helps at this stage. She is only 65 and wants to at least try. I hope that the treatments are not too hard on her. I have found the cholangiocarcinoma website very helpful. I hope your mom is doing OK!0
