welcome
Hi and welcome! I will give you a website you could check out. If your dr. has good reviews from his patients it may help you to deceide. www.RateMD's.com
It was a help to me.0 -
First question I"d be asking is:
"OK, honey, NOW can we have a maid?" With 3 kids, you deserve one!
I think maybe you misheard your care plan...at least I hope you did. 8 rounds of chemo every 3 weeks? I think maybe it's every three weeks you have a round with chemo, for a total of 8 rounds. I hope that's it!
Start telling, not just asking. When people say "Oh, I wish there was something I could do for you", answer with "Why, thanks for offering! Can you help with getting the kids to and from school, appointments and practices? Or how about a meal a month? Or maybe you'd like to dust and vacuum for me every once in a while."
Sounds pretty brazen, huh? That's what I thought...until I realized that letting people help was a favor to them, not just me.
Oh, and if you have a hubby/SO, tell him that for the next few months, it is going to have to be about YOU!
And, last bit of advice...fight with every spare ounce of energy. I even had special music for chemo and rads...angry loud rap and rock n'roll (Tom Petty's "Won't Back Down" and Rehab's "Last Tattoo" were my staples...the rad center knew lunch was over when they could hear me coming from a block away!
So, let's see...make it about you, let others help, fight fight fight, do not give into despair, and good loud music....so no one can hear you when you cry. Oh, and red cowboy boots to kick cancer's azz are a real plus!
Sadly, I welcome you to the club. But we're really glad to have you.0 -
So sorry that you had toccincin said:dcis and idc
Is what I had. Apparently my entire breast had dcis and a grade III 2 cm tumor of IDC. Strange thing is I kept feeling a fullness in my armpit so had an ultrasound in march 09 of breast and armpit that showed nothing!
I really just want to get treatments started since it feels like nothings being done now!
Any tips on getting range of motion back or numbness gone?
So sorry that you had to join us but welcome and you have come to the right place. As soon as your Dr. says you can exercise then do it, you will feel a difference daily by just moving. As far as the numbness, well I didn't get mine back and was told that I may not, I had my bilateral masectomy in April. The best thing I did was write down all my questions as I thought of them and took it to the Dr. with me and asked away. I had the onco test so I didn't need to have chemo or radiation but I am on Aromisin as I had already taken tamoxofin in 2001 for 5 years, I had pre breast cancer in my right and the cancer showed up in the left, go figure!
