r epoch or group c chop?

i was diagnosed with mediastinal diffuse large b cell non-hodgkin's lymphoma a few weeks ago, and i've had one round of Group B chop treatment, but now my doctor's have decided to either up my dosages to Group C chop treatment or give me R epoch treatment instead in order to decrease the chances of my cancer coming back. I'm leaning towards the r epoch based off of my own research and a few doctors opinions, but i was wondering if anyone with something similar to my condition recieved group c chop or r epoch and how the treatments affected them and how they're doing if they're done with their treatment.

  • R EPOCH OR R CHOP
    HI OMAR,

i AM IN MY SECOND ROUND OF THE R-EPOCH TREATMENT AND AM BEING TREATED AT MD ANDERSON IN HOUSTON TEXAS. MY DOCTORS TELL ME THAT A STUDY BY NCI WHICH IS NOT OUT YET FOR PUBLICATION SHOWS A VERY HIGH SUCCESS RATE WITH R-EPOCH, MUCH BETTER THAN PREVIIOUS STUDIES BY R-CHOP USE. EPOCH HAS BEEN USED FOR ABOUT THE LAST 8 YEARS, WHICL I BELIEVE R -CHOP STARTED MORE IN THE 1980s. I HIOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

DIFFUSE LARGE B CELL LYMPHOMA IS A VERY AGGRESSIVE FORM OF CONCAER. AS SOON AS I WAS DIAGNOSED, MY TREATMENT STARTED THE SAME DAY. I SUGGEST YOU LOOK INTO STARTING YOUR TREATMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

    R-epoch
I have the same sub type and am near the end of my treatment.
    I had stage 4 pmdbcl.
They put me on the epoch-r regime and it has worked. There was no evidence of disease in my mid treatment scan.

    r epoch
My husband is getting ready to start his 2nd cycle of R epoch for DBCL. I understood it as a more aggressive approach with it being pretty tolerated by most. Some of his pain decreased just after 1 cycle. He did experience lots of nausea with the 1st cycle though. He went in on a Monday & discharged on Saturday afternoon. Out of curiosity to those that have had this treatment...what type of central catheter did you have?

    side affects of treatment
I had my first treatment and am not feeling any side affects yet. Did you have any side affects after treatments two or three?

    @traci - I had a PICC line
@traci - I had a PICC line in my arm.

The first 3 cycles were easy. Then they increased the dosage and didn't let up.
But this is how they get their cures.
By the last cycle, some of the doctors thought about reducing the dosage, but because my blood counts picked up again, they went the full dose. They reminded me that it's how you get your cure. It's a cure they are going for. So hang in there!

    treatment of r epoch
I have had one treatment of r epoch. I had to stay in the hospital for the continuous treatment. Dr. tells me I can have part of the treatment at the office and go home with a pump overnight.
Do you have the pump or do you stay in the hospital?
What kind of side affects have you had after round 2, 3, etc.

    Hi Jian,
My brother is undergoing his third round of Repoch. He has tolerated it well so far. However, his PET scan after his 2nd cycle still showed tumors (that had decreased in size). They have not increased his dosage.

I was wondering when did you get your PET scan and when and why did they increase your chemo dosage?
