Hello Vanessa
I am sorry to hear that you are going through all of this but you can do it. I know it's all new and overwhelming right now but step by step you will get it done.
I am a 22 year survivor of non hodgkins lymphoma, had one recurrance in the first two years after initial diagnosis and that was it. I have been considered cured for many years now. I have many side effects from treatments but they were many years ago as I said.
I can share with you something that might help. I don't know if you are a spiritual person or not but I too had a very young family when I went through severe treatments for my cancer. I prayed to be allowed to survive so that I could be there for my kids as they grew up and I can tell you that that is one powerful prayer, to be there for your children. I had an actual healing take place after praying that prayer over and over for several nights and the cancer has never returned.
I believe that the prayer of a Mother for her children is the strongest prayer there is and that was proven to me in spades through my experience. My daughter was about 3 when I went through treatment and my son was 5 and today my daugher is finishing up her degree in Marine Biology at University and is engaged to be married next year. I got my wish and so can you.
It's a new day in cancer treatments for sure. I heard a statistic recently that over 63% can be cured and after that many, if not cured, can be managed over many years - it then becomes more of a chronic disease to them. Many many are curable though so know that.
Fight on for your children and pray and one day you will be sitting at the computer telling some other newbie that you too are a 22 year survivor.
Keep us informed if you have time.
You can do it.

Sounds like your kids, even with a challenge like Asbergers, have such high goals which means that you have done a great job and the fact that your daughter wants to become a Mom with a big family shows how well you have role modeled for her. Good job Mom.
I'm sure with your prayers to be there for your children God will get you through so you can see your daughter become a Mom and your son a goernor - hey wanting to be rich and go to Duke - not too shabby a goal either. lol.
Step by step through your treatments, It helps. Post on this board often, lots of people here to help mentor you as well.

I just wanted you to know that I am here and have added you to my prayers. I was talking to a friend yesterday who is a cervical cancer survivor for over 15 years. You have a lot on your plate. Just being a single parent is a full-time job. It is no wonder that you are stressed and scared. Hang in there and take things one baby step at a time. Put your support system to work. While I was caregiver for my husband, I found that many friends wanted to help. Reach out to family and friends now. Prayers and hugs, Fay0 -

Having cancer has really taught me a lot even though I am new with my dignoses.
But being that I am due to go in the hospital soon and I dont want to leave everything on my mom so my kids school has asked if I needed anything and the school therpist said how about I get a email out to all the teachers and we can have the school faculty make meals while you are in the hospital, normally i would say no becuase I dont like taking help but i said yes please please please and thank you!
Our church is also going to help as well.
Again thanks to both of you for teh prayers I need all I can get!

Acdepting help from others is incredibly hard for lots of people diagnosed with cancer. They want to remain independant and do everything themselves as before but they don't realize how difficult it could be during treatment. So you are way ahead of the game by accepting help from others and I think that shcool is amazing offering to send out an email to get others to help as well. AMAZING. I wish more communities were like that.
I did the opposite thing you are doing and stubbornly turned away offers for help and made it so much harder for myself but when it recurred I learned my lesson.
Good going with the decision to let people help. Proud of you.
Keep in touch with the boatds, we are here for you too. You aren't alone in all of this.
Hugs.
Blessings,

Good for you! There is a hymn that says something about allowing others to help us. I think it is just as important to be a thankful receiver as it is to serve others. Allowing others to help is another way of serving God. When you are better and can help others, I know you will pass it forward. Right now, you need to take care of yourself. Hug your kids, and thank those who help. Blessings, Fay0 -
