Here I am!!!! Thanks for
Here I am!!!! Thanks for inquiring, Stef!
I have ben rather lax lately, I admit. Not sure why...hopefully I am just keeping busy with "other things"!
This has been a busy few weeks for us~ as many of you know, Reggie sings with a Native American group, traditional songs in the almost lost language of his tribe. An anthropologist recorded the older Tribal members singing the songs of their families on wax cylinders in the early/mid 1900's, and those recordings happily still exist! They are what are called "social songs" about fishing, health and animals, etc. Reggie and his guys have been traveling to various venues to perform, and of course, I go with them! We oftentimes host the singers here at the house~ they eat and spend the night here...a few times we have had over a dozen sleeping here! Reggie makes the most delicious fresh fruit filled pancakes with caramelized bananas OMG! So, so good!
Speaking of food~ my sister and her husband came for a visit. On Thursday we had reservations at the gourmet restaurant at the college where Siobhan is a 4th semester culinary student. FANTASTIC! My selections ( in order of appearance) gazpacho with crab, gnocci with gorgonzola cream sauce, baby lamb chops with fresh pasta and pumpkin creme brulee! All had wine pairings...so so so good!
Then on Saturday, my brother in law was enetered in a cooking contest with the proceeds going to arts in school~ he made a chicken entree ( moroccan style stew) and he WON!!!
Thankfully, he made enough for us to have it for dinner last night!
Aside from that, I lamented over my Yankees having a terrible post season showing...even though I wore my Yankee hat and shirt!LOL oh well...there's always next year!
I am taking my meds, fighting a head/chest cold, and have a CT scheduled for Nov 15, with results from my onco doc on the 22...no matter what, I am hosting the mega Thanksgiving day feast with friends and family!
And, lest I forget...I am soon going to post that I will be taking names and addresses here from the CSN BC board posters about our annual ornament exchange! Time does fly quickly, so, actually, if any of you who see this post want to be part of the exchange, PM me with your name and mailing address and I will start compiling a list and partner you up!For the uninitiated who may be interested~ it was so much fun last year! I had over 60 participants from these boards!!! They do NOT have to be holiday or relisious themes...we of course have myriad beliefs here, and the purpose is never to offend but just to connect! So, sleds, snowflakes, State themes ( if you are from Tx, for example a cowboy boot ornament, or from Calif a wine bottle ornament, or Hawaii a lei ornament) You get the idea!
So...IF any of you want to be a part of this~ PM me!
Thanks agian Stef~ I love you even more for asking about me.
Hugs,

I am so happy to hear from you. I wrote that on your other post but it bears repeating. I love hearing all the interesting things that you and Reggie do. It is wonderful that so much of his traditions are being carried on. Still sorry about the colds though. How exciting that your brother in law won the cooking contest and that the money raised goes to Art in the School. I will be thinking of you on the 15th and wishing good thoughts for your CT. I will be having a colonoscopy and endoscopy that same day. Just precautionary so I am expecting nothing less than stellar results. Glad to hear you are doing your mega feast for Thanksgiving, complete with the arrow pierced Pilgrims I hope.
I was wondering if you were going to do the exchange this year. I was so touched last year when I was going through a rough patch and you personally sent me that lovely shoe. I want in this year for sure. I will send you my information and you are a dear to do this once again.
Again and again, glad you checked in and hope the colds get better fast.

Two traditions I never leave out from ( as you know Reggie calls it) the ThanksTaking Day festivities!
The episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer called "Pangs" which is actually about the Chumash Tribe. The episode uses actual Chumash words~ very entertainling from this White woman's standpoint. It is from that episode that I adopted my "tablescape" of Pilgrims run through with arrows! Nothing like having a houseful of Chumash Indians watching an episode about Chumash Indians! I evidently wouldn't know political correctness if it came up and slapped me upside the head! LOL
I am so glad you want to be part of the exchange!
I will think of you on the 15th...it will keep me from being so concerned about my own procedure!

Chen,
You are amazing. I'm happy to see that the CT scan and meds are such a minor part of your agenda. Sending you healing energy and love.

I have been keeping busy. Did the Memory walk in memory of my Dad yesterday and I joined a Yoga class for Cancer Survivors group at OM Yoga in NYC. I went for my first clas on Saturday. It was fabulous. So much great energy and support and led by an instructor of Yoga who specializes in Cancer survivor work. She is herself a survivor.
Your Thankstaking celebration sounds great.Congrats to your brother in law on his winning the culinary contest.
