WHAT THE #$%*&^?
At least the 3rd round of spamming is going on from the same 'identity'! Is there no monitoring of the site by ACS being done? I can understand once, maybe twice but to allow 3 that's very questionable.

Here are my thoughts on
Here are my thoughts on this. It seems that these are coming in 10 or 11 hours intervals so it is probably on a loop of some kind. Several people have said that it would be taken care of on Monday so I am thinking that maybe there are not moderators on the weekend and spammers know this. Not sure why CSN doesn't have spammer fighters. So we may have to wait. Someone made the suggestions to hit the created heading at the top of our posts when you first get on the breast cancer site and then hit it again. This will sort the posts by the origin dates and will move any of the spam that is linked to the very old posts. Then at least we can see the more current topics.
You summed it up real well, Susan, and yelling is appropriate. I am hoping that they can trace whoever originated these spams but I doubt it. Will just be glad to see them gone? It is very frustrating for us and must be even more so to any newbies that are trying to post.

I'm real "'puter 'tupid" but how can a site like this allow over 2,500 posts from ONE 'identity' within 2 days and not know what is going on? I don't understand at all!

it is probably computer generated, but truly annoying. i so look forwarding to checking in here first thing in the morning, and i was shocked that it had happened again. now a third time, UGH!
i figured out how to see the most recent posts, but feel bad for newbies not familiar with our site. let's hope that the CSN powers that be can correct this sooner than later.
in the meantime, just look at the headings across the top of our postings, one says created, click on it once to sort in ascending date created order, click on this column again and it will sort in descending date created order - voila! our most recent posts are listed first!0 -

Heidi was it you that suggested this solution before. I just said someone because I couldn't remember who but it is a great idea.
I am not sure if there is a moderator 24/7 on this site so maybe that is why someone said it would be sorted out on Monday. Meanwhile it's a pain in the neck but your solution is just genius. Thanks.

Just my opinion - I don't expect a 24/7 moderatorfauxma said:Good Idea. I will do the
Good Idea. I will do the same. It needs to go as soon as possible. Thanks, Rague.
I've always assumed (rightly or wrongly) that the ACS may not provide a 24/7 moderator for these boards, and so just assume that any problems we have may not be taken care of until the next business morning.
And -- as irritating as this weekend's situation is, to be sure -- that's okay with me. These boards are provided as a free service, I don't pay a penny to use them, so I don't expect immediate service on a weekend.
I'm probably going to sound all Pollyanna here, but I'm grateful that we have these boards free of charge, and for the work that Greta and the ACS already do to maintain them. If one person has already called to inform them of the situation, I just don't think they need to receive more calls about it.
Just wanted to offer my own opinion -- if others feel differently, that's cool.

breastcancer.org is another website I frequent and I have never seen this happen there. What's the deal? Something needs to change in the setup to avoid this in the future.

I don't expect that every post is monitored as soon as it is posted BUT when 'someone' creates a 'name' and within 2 days posts over 2,000 posts that is a MAJOR problem for the site that is being ignored.
I go to many different forums and have never seen this sort of thing being tolerated at any of them. This site is part of the American Cancer Society! People come here for help not to see nothing but spamm. This 'entity' has spammed every portion of this site, not just BC, which is owned by the American Cancer Society. As I have said many times I'm "'puter 'tupid" but though I don't do know how to do much I do know that there are those who do. There is no reason that their 'puter can't be set up to stop this sort of thing. This is not a site where people talk about their bougainvillas or needle work - this site is where people have life effecting questions. When it is tied up for days by spammers - well not something I find acceptable/tolerable. If the first time I had come her was this past weekend there is no way I would have come back - I can only hope that those who have seen what was allowed to be done will come back ONCE it is 'straightened' out.
The more calls the better - one can be deemed a 'nut' but all can't be.
Here in the USA, I still have my right to believe as I do as do you.
