Making it through the holidays
Went to see my counselor on wednesday. I told her I've been having a rough time again and think it's cause of the holidays coming. This will be my 1st thanksgiving & Christmas & New Years without my husband and I know it's going to be very hard. She said to try to remember him by lighting a candle in his memory or placing a setting for him at the table. How can I do that? It's the memories that are hard cause I loved him so much & wasn't ready to give him up. I don't even want to put up a christmas tree or anything. Does anyone have any suggestions or feel the way I do??? "Carole"

Im so very sorry
Im so very sorry for you. I too am having a hard time figuring out how to survive the upcoming "cheerful" season. My Mother passed away on 09/23 after only 4 months battling Stage IV Lung Cancer. Tomorrow would have been her 56th birthday, as well as my parents 35th wedding anniversary. I am dreading waking up tomorrow and not being able to call her and bring her presents for her birthday...I cant even stomach the thought of Christmas and Thanksgiving with her seat at the table empty. I pray you find comfort and strength in the memories you have of all the holidays you did have together. You will be in my prayers.0 -

Devin,
The holidays will be very hard for you too, huh? I also lost my mom in "89 right before Christmas & my dad in '90 right after Christmas. And now my husband died right before easter, so I hate the holidays. Even though my mom died over 20 years ago, I still miss her and wish so many times I could just pick up the phone and talk to her. My husband had NSCL cancer stage 1V also and only lasted 2 months. He had a rare side effect from Avastin. Horrible death and something I'll never forget cause I was helpless.
You'll also be in my prayers. "Carole"0
