How Long do Chemo Side Effects Last?

Hello All,
I was diagnosed with limited sclc back in May. I went through 4 rounds of chemo ( cisplatin adn VP16 until they could get that anymore , then 2 rounds of Irinotecan). The cisplatin and vp 16 didin't make me very sick but the Irinotecan gave me diareha before It was done dripping in my arm and nausea quickly after that. I had my last round 5 weeks ago and I'm still suffering from nausea that just shows up with no warning and that same with the diareah. I just finished radiation last week and my throat is not as burnt as some I've heard of but I still can only manage liquids.
The problem is when I do decide to eat something I know it's going to come back, so I don't even care to eat anymore. I'm taking, compazine, lomotil and ondansetron and they still don't help as they should.
How long do these side effects go on? When will I be able to eat something without worrying about it's emminent return?
Thanks for the help Sue

Kytril?
Hi, Sue,
I think you can get Kytril in patch form, which might work better for you. If not, an old wife's remedy (and hey, sometimes those old wives knew what they were talking about ;-)) is ginger - ginger candy, gingersnaps, ginger tea. It's a blood thinner, however, so check with your doctor to make sure it won't react with anything else you might be taking. Luck be with you,
