I Did It - Walked the Susan G. Komen 5K Today!
They had the survivor parade first thing in the morning. Instead of cheering everyone on, I was actually in the parade, weeping a little along the way. Then they took a picture of all the survivors and gave us all pink roses. Hundreds of pink sisters!!!
At the end of the walk, all the survivors had to walk through a crowd or cheering people.
It was a beautiful morning. A little chilly, but comfortable for the walk. Last year it rained and snowed a little.
Thanks to all my CSN sisters that also walked along with me. I felt you all there! It was a wonderful feeling. Hugs to you all, Jean

Congratulations for doing the 5K today (wish that's what I had done last week instead of the 1 mile).
I know it was an awesome experience for you because this was my first year as a survivor too! I hope you had the feeling of encouragement and unity that comes with these events. Stay strong.
Hope Isabella is doing much better!

Jean so glad you had a great experience, I never really walked identifying myself as a survivor, I think I thought I might feel self concious. But it doesnt sound like that is what happens. Yay for you0 -

I thought I was exceptionally tired this morning and now I know why.
Glad you had a great time Jean.
Thanks for walking for your sisters!

Yay Jean! And thank you,
Yay Jean! And thank you, thank you for doing this for all of us. We were with you every step of the way!0 -
Thanks Jean
I knew the march was this weekend, but with the COPD and being on oxygen, I could not do the walk. I had hoped maybe to at least stand on the sidelines and hand out water or something, but it was not to be. I keep saying "next year", but its always something. So again, I will say, maybe next year. I have now been smoke free for 13 days and counting and I am beginning to notice I can walk a bit more without getting winded. So next year I will definitely try to do the Relay for Life in Laurel and do either the Baltimore or Washington Relay.0 -
Thank you Jean, for walking
Thank you Jean, for walking for all of us! And so soon after finishing your chemo - your strength is inspiring Glad you had good walking weather, and that you felt us all with you!
I'm walking on the 23rd in the Making Strides in my town & it will be my first walk experience with any BC walk. I'll be thinking of you

Next year
Jean,
I'm so happy for you - and good for you! I couldn't walk this year because I'm not released to "be in the public" because of the drop in my white blood count. I would love to walk with you in Baltimore next year. I'm not very far from Baltimore and my daughter lives there.
Hugs,

I Posted a Picture on my Expressions Page
Thanks everyone! I have posted our group picture on my Expressions page. Bank of America was there to take pictures of everyone, which I thought was great.
Thanks for the prayers for Isabella. She is two weeks old today. She is doing well with some minor set backs. Looks like she'll be in the hospital for at least 2 more weeks. Keep the prayers coming please. Hugs, Jean0 -
Jean I have tears in my eyes
remembering the year I walked for the Cure in CT. I'm glad this year was a special experience for you especially being part of the parade. I walked by myself 6 years ago in honor of my 2 sisters with bc. Since then though my arthritis has gotten worse and I have lumbar spinal stenosis and I'm unable to walk any distance. I remember all those I saw who were survivors. I hope to some day be able to participate as a survivor. Great picture!
Will keep your family, especially Isabella in my prayers.

Way to go Pink Warrior. Can't wait to see your group photo. I thought the survivor parade was the most emotional too. I am walking in two weeks, again, in the Making strides against Breast Cancer with my hospital team. I am taking all of you along with me. Get your virtual walking shoes laced up and wear something warm. It gets nippy here in NY in mid October.
Hugs,K0
