Hi everyone

I am a visitor to this topic as I have Primary Peritoneal Cancer. The reason I am posting is before I was diagnosed I had plueral effusion in both lungs. I had a chest drain on lungs before my chemp kicked in. The right lung carried on filling up and I ended up having plueradesis on it.

Before cancer I was very fit and used to run. I finished chemo in March and am trying to get back to running, but I am getting an ache in the area of my right lung.

My question is, has anyone else experienced anything like this after having this procedure? I am thinking it might be scar tissue. I am hoping it is NOT a tumour!!!!!! Because my cancer is not lung my onc is not a specialist in this area. However, I find the people on these boards so much more helful that the medical people as they are living it.

    I have pleural mesothelioma, which is a cancer that is around the lung, in other word asbestos cancer. The ache that I had was like a lightning bolt around the right side of my lung, it would come and go. If that is what you are getting I would talk to doctor about this. The problem is that not many doctor's know about this mesothelioma cancer but you can get chest xray or ct scan of the chest and might be able to see it, if they know what they are looking for. It is one of those cancers that is difficult to diagnose. Hopefully that will help and hope that you don't have this at all.

    Hi, Tina -
    One of the best (and unexpected) benefits of a pleurodesis procedure is that something in the talc seems to block the formation of more tumors. I had it done to stop my lung from collapsing. I occasionally have pain there, particularly where the chest tube (actually, with two lung collapses, I've had three chest tubes) was inserted. I wouldn't worry too much, but to be sure maybe you should ask for a scan. I hope its nothing!
