Peg tube hole.

How long is it supposed to take to fully close? Mine isn't healed yet and it's two weeks out, today. It's definitely smaller and looks like it's healing. Doesn't look like anything is wrong. When she pulled it out she said it would close up in a couple days. I do have some of that granulation tissue and I asked about that impeeding my healing and she said it wouldn't. Just wondering.

    Hi Sweet, when I had mine removed I was told it would be healed within a day or two. Mine seemed to stay bright pink and itched for a few days but it healed nicely and now I have two "innies". I have no idea on the tissue granulation but would wonder about its affects on your healing. I'm a compulsive worrier so I know I would be on the phone asking them WHY!!!

    I think how long you have had the peg
    I think how long the peg has been in place will also be a factor on how quickly it closes, Sweet.

    Be patient and careful with it in the meantime.

    I know you are more than relieved it is OUT!

    Mine healed in less then a week. I didn't have it in as long as you did. I would call the
    doctor if you are worried.

    I can't say I am worried really, I have learned I am an extra extra slow healer. I'm patient, believe me after having that thing in for 18 months it's a relief to have it out. As I said it looks like it's getting smaller and smaller but there is that pink tissue there and it's not closed. I think if it's still like this next week I will call her.

    Yeah mine healed up pretty quick 4-5 days; there is still pink discoloration but the would healed quick.; also they gave me a cream that ate away at the stoma tissue. But mine was only in for 3 months, it sounds like your is healing normal; as long as there is no infection it should heal fine! :)

    Looks smaller again today. I think it's healing fine. I know I always take longer than 'normal' people. :)

    I don't remember the exact time it took, but it did take longer than two weeks. Maybe a month or so. It sounds like you are right on track, to me.

    Hi Sweets!

    My PEG hole definitely took longer than two weeks to close up. The doctor said I would possibly be able to swim after a week or so, but I swear I could still see a tiny hole there. It eventually filled all the way in with something that looked like granulation tissue. Ick, TMI, sorry.

    Also, it's kind of hard to tell when it is really closed. I actually had to use a hand mirror, and a flashlight to clearly see.

    Four months after my PEG was pulled, I still had seapage after larger meals. Surgeon said he figured it was the seapage, itself, which was preventing the formation of a strong enough seal. His solution: skin temps stuffed into my new belly button twice/day. And, it seems to have worked! The only other alternative was surgery. Hope your's closes okay.

    It took mine a few days to close completely, but was tender and pink for a couple of weeks. My wife thinks it's cute. Ha ha, somethings are just funny. I never thought i would have to belly buttons.

    What the heck are skin temps?

    You know was just thinking that in one of my control tests for my Fanconi Anemia they took a skin biopsy and tried to grow it in the lab or something and I seem to recall that mine wouldn't do it because of the FA. I wonder if the reason my wounds heal more slowly has something to do with that.

    Skin Temp II-
    Is what they are called, Sweet. Come in 3x3 patches with light adhesive on one side, and a whitish fiber mesh on the other. I cut them into strips about 1/4" wide, peel the adhesive off, and then feed into the bb with tweezers. Need to be wetted first, and Surgeon had me using Vashe to moisten for the first week (said it's an experimental way to do it). The remnants can be removed after 10-12 hours, then repeat, and cover with a small gauze pad. Seems to have worked for me.

    My PEG was removed about a year ago and replaced with a Mickey.....I'm having it removed Friday and truly hope it heals fast.

    Same Here

    I had my PEG replaced with a Mickey several weeks ago, and just had it removed on Tuesday.

    Removal was absolutely painless.  I left the bandage on for just over 24 hours.  Left a big dark hole, but is healing nicely.  No significant leakage, and I resumed normal activities after 24 hours, though I have been avoiding heavy lifting.
