Hi Small Dog groomer
I had much the same problem while doing chemo, the last 2 or 3 rounds were the worst. I had done a mugga and there was no "apparent" problem. About six months after chemo I requested a heart study. The heart study found that my heart was in good shape.
Try not to worry to much! By the way I am the proud owner of 3 chihuahuas.
Blessings to you...Alison0 -
bp and pulse rate
My bp went down during chemo and I got off my meds....but my pulse rate was high, and I too would get out of breath when doing any activity.......... it ran between 85 at rest and 103 if active. Onc said not to worry, but if it stayed above 100 he would give me meds for that.......fortunately it never stayed constant above 100, but just walking as you say brought it up t 96 or so......doing laundry jumped it into 100's. But since chemo ended, it is 85 when active, so I am assuming it will continue to drop by itself. Muga showed no heart damage. Good luck......hope all will be fine with you also..........Hugs0 -
The above advice is good and
The above advice is good and remember that anxiety can contribute to this. Keep an eye on your heart rate, but do know there are some temporary side effects to chemo too. Here is a link about tachycardia (rapid heart rate) from the Mayo Clinic:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tachycardia/DS00929
And note that they are calling normal heart rate 60-100 AT REST.0 -

during chemo I think I was in a constant state of dehydration, my blood pressure was too low and my heart rate was too high. resting heart rate was 131 at one point. I would get fluid but it never helped the blood pressure. and only temporarily helped the heart rate. My potassium level was really low too,88/ which affects your heart. My echos were ok, except he said my heart was hyperdynamic/ pumping too hard (dehydration) it was a constant battle until chemo was done. I couldnt walk around too much because I am sure my Blood pressure dropped even lower when I was standing. I would get dizzy and nauseated. after chemo was done I slowly got better. My blood pressure is low but my heart rate is 70-80' where it even after chemo for a while it was 105 ish. now if I stand up too fast I get dizzy, I have to make sure on hot days I drink lots of fluid and eat something salty this helps me. would not be good for some with an elevated blood pressure though. I think this chemo stuff is just really alien to our bodies, and although hopefully it kills any stray cells it also does a number on the body for awhile.0 -

I sure hope you are feeling better, you have been through so much. And you are right this chemo stuff really does a number on us. I never got dehydrated I drink allot of water. 3 to 5 bottles 20 oz per day. ( I have aways done this )I sure hope you had no lasting problems with your heart from the chemo? Take care You are in my prayers Kay,0 -

They would jack me up with steroids, I swear my heart felt like it was going to explode at times. I hated the racing, jitter feeling. You feel out of control. Anything you try to do no matter how minor causes you to tire, and loose your breath. I would walk around for 2 minutes and feel like I ran 5 miles. It took some time, but after chemo my heart has returned to normal. I feel good now.
I understand the fear though. After all it's your heart. Don't push yourself. When your heart starts racing, relax, breathe and meditate on something relaxing.0 -
