SirSpheres in Colorado

Well, we are in Colorado. Our doctor is really amazing, he actually prayed over my husband--now that is humility, when you know that you are only the tool and God is the healer.

We could not get insurance to cover the spheres, but we know Layne needs them. Therefore, we self paid by scrimping, saving, begging, pleading and raising money. Our doc worked with us totally and really cut the cost.

I was amazed at the kind, compassionate treatment we received. Layne is resting comfortably, after having the entire liver infused with spheres. When you have multiple mets, SirSpheres are smaller and will work better.

He had virtually no pain. Now for a cancer treatment, that is about amazing!

Our doc in Nevada told us he could not get spheres as his mets were too large, but I did not give up. I found a doc who would do them (actually found three docs who would, but only one helped us get the cost down) and she sent us on our way to get them done. You really have to know your options and know your care and not be afraid to send your cat scans or petscans away so other doctors can give input.

We'll let you know on the progress.

Blessings to everyone

    Hi Betty and Layne!
SO happy to know you are in beautiful Colorado and Layne has had the treatment he needed. Isn't it wonderful how God blesses us when we trust in Him? Prayers are coming your way as well as hugs from both of us!

Forgot to say that Jim's surgeon also prayed with us before his hernia surgery. Amazing and so wonderful for all in the room.

    Dr. Nutting
Hi Betty- I believe you are working with Dr. Nutting? He treated my Dad with SirSpheres for his liver mets in July and our experience was terrific. Dr. Nutting also prayed before my Dad's procedures - and he called my Dad "Sir" - how nice from such a young doc. I'm so happy he worked with you on the price - that makes me like him even more.

I'm so excited for you and Layne especially. You will be in my thoughts and prayers - can't wait to hear about the fabulous results!!

Yes, I have not been here as
Yes, I have not been here as much as I'd like as I have had to take over our business and I am at work all day, homeschooling all night, teaching two homeschool co-op classes on Friday and keeping the house going. Then I am still a caregiver, and Layne is often not well with this new chemo.

I forget that we have a lot of new folks who don't know us. UGHHHH My mind is not as sharp as it was before all this. I just don't connect the dots sometimes these days.

Layne was dx'd April of 09. The docs thought he had it beaten. He was stage IVm1a but got surgery and was clear by pet and everyone thought we were there...then it came back. And we've been fighting ever since.

Liver mets are hard, because generally the docs just tell you to go home and prep for hospice. But they have been beaten. You can't radiate the liver it seems. But you can implant radiation. And it seems to help quite a bit.

We've been on an amazing journey. God has carried us. Our little business is still alive, our kids doing well, we have rec'd medical care that we had no way to pay for. We've opened a t shirt business that let's us pray for folks and touch them in so many ways--and inspire them to fight and have courage.

It's been quite the journey. And we have continued to live every day ...LIVE. Because really only today is ours, right? We don't know about tomorrow.

:) Hugs to everyone, I have to run and hug my hubby.
