CAN MY HUSBAND DRIVE ME TO THE FIRST 3 DAYS OF TREATMENT/WITH PRECAUTIONS?

I really want to know if he can drive me? I live really far from where my radioactive iodine treatment is,and my car is not the greatest,with precautions,does anyone think its ok?

    The first time I had the treatment, my daughter was with me. She was 26 at the time, and I nor she knew that she no one was suppose to be near me for 48 hrs. So told the doctor there and they told me to tell her to sit in the back seat.

    the goal is to minimize exposure.. max of 1 hour per day less than 6 or so foot.

    if you can do that there shouldnt be a problem. so if he has to drive you there and back as long as its less than 1 hour exposure after radiation and you dont need him to be close to you the rest of the day it should be ok.

    yes maximize distance any way you can but if you have to you have to

    Driving to RAI treatments
    I'm a bit confused why you're driving to the first three days of treatment. The treatment dose is given in one go so there is really only the one trip to be concerned about. It would depend on your dose, too, how radioactive you are in the first few hours.

    It is a pity that there are no isolation rooms in US thyroid cancer treatment centers (as there are in the UK and other countries). But, given their absence, there must be guidelines for getting to and from treatment - have you tried asking the nuclear med department or whoever is giving you the dose what they recommend to patients?

    But, it is far preferable if someone drives you, than if you drive yourself in a hypo state ...
