P.S. My hubby is still recovering from his esophagectomy last Dec. '09. He is back to work but having issues with low-blood pressure. It's 105/58 and even lower at times. His oncologist told him to just add salt to his foods everyday. My hubby is also having a hard time maintaining weight. Has / Is anyone else having these issues?
Blessings,
Shelly

Maintaining weight seems to
Maintaining weight seems to be a problem just about for everyone. From what I understand, it takes up to a year to get eating right. We are still learning what to eat. My husband's blood pressure is the opposite. It is up in the morning than normal the rest of the day. Continued good luck on his recovery. Mary0 -

Hi Shelly,
Had my esophagectomy in December 09 and my blood pressure runs 112/53 or 110/63 but the drs don't seem to be worried, but I get dizzy if I get up too quickly and start to walk. I eat potato chips a lot so think that covers me for salt. Weight gain seems to be everyone's problem. What I have been doing is drinking that High Volume Calorie drink from Nestle's it is 560 calories and you order it from the internet, also drink small amounts or you get dumping syndrome. My other magic trick for gaining weight, I now weigh 124 from an all time low after post op chemo of 114 is to eat creamy peanut butter by the teaspoon fulls. I go thru a small jar a week. I love peanut butter and it sure is working for weight gain. Also I don't have problems with dairy or many other foods. Hope this helps. When you are thin low blood pressure is present often. As long as the drs are not worried, then I would not worry too much. take care and good luck,
