Update on mom
I know firsthand that chemo is good and will help her get better, I was just so happy at the idea of my mom, who's in a pretty fragile physical state anyways, not having to go through chemo..it is hard, and I don't want to see her in more pain, or uncomfortable. But, if it helps keep her healthy & around for many many more years, then she's going to get through it just like I am. We actually have the same oncologist, I'm going to see if they can get our treatments on the same schedule so that she can come with me - the cancer center our Onc is at is across town, mom doesn't drive anymore, so it would be so much easier. And if not, I'll just go along with her on her days.
Thanks for letting me share this, I know I've been posting about my mom's situation ever since I took her to her follow up mammogram.
*hugs*

your mom is so lucky to have a wonderful caring and strong daughter like you. How kind you are in the midst af treatment and your family responsibilities to be thinking of her. Let us know how we can support you and her and you supporting her. (if that makes sense) You will get through it together. (and sorry about the nodes that stinks)0 -

for this new development. Sending positive thoughts to you and your Mom. You can do it and help your Mom go through treatments. She can be put on weekly regimen, which lighter version on every three weeks

Heather, Sorry to hear that
Heather,
Sorry to hear that they found cancer in your mom's lymph nodes. Nothing like those little surprises after surgery. You have been such a great daughter through all this and I am sure she loves having your support. You are also probably such an inspiration to her watching you bravely go through everything you have been through as well. Keep your head up and know that thoughts and prayers are coming your way for you and your family.

thank you. i love you all.
Thank you...so much. I guess I don't know much about what it means to have lymph node involvement because I didn't. The Dr did tell my dad that her survival rate is still 85-90%, so to me, that's still promising. One thing through my own cancer journey is, although I consider myself extremely educated on the subject, my education is tailored to my experience. My nodes were negative for cancer, so I don't know much about positive nodes. I had 3 removed for the sentinel node biopsy, so although lymphedyma (sp?) was discussed, i dont know much about preventing it other than no sticks, blood pressure, and to be careful with avoiding cuts & scratches on that arm.
Thanks again for your support and encouragement, I'm lucky enough to have a great support system of friends and family, but when it comes to talking about things actually cancer and treatment related, you guys take the cake
And on an unrelated note -God bless our service men and women who have, and who are currently, serving our country. And the police officers, and firefighters -those people who actually CHOOSE to spend their lives saving other's lives. I don't know why 9-11 has always seemed so personal to me, I don't have a personal connection to the tragedy. I just remember how devastated I felt while it was happening. 4 years ago I was in New York City on the September 11th for the weekend, and the way the city pulled together was something I will never forget. That day, EVERYONE was a New Yorker. There were no tourists. It truly felt like waking around a huge city with thousands of family menbers.

to you and your mom, Heather. Being able to help her will help you as well. Sometimes, for me, focusing on someone else is so therapeutic. It is wonderful that you both have each other to lean on, cry with, talk with and laugh with.
I share in your tribute to the wonderful heros of 9/11 and thank you for bringing it to our attention today.

I'm sorry that Mom has to endure chemo .. You both are survivors, screw the survival percentages! Same Onc -- it would be awesome if the doctor's office could coordinate - chemo drips.
Here hoping for brighter days for you and Mom!

You're truly a blessing for your mom -- having you to not only love and care for her, but also to really know and understand what she's going through.
But the thought of seeing a mother and daughter together in a chemo room, both in treatment at the same time for breast cancer -- it just makes me so angry and sad that this could even happen.
And what a good mom YOU are, too, teaching your girls about caring for others. I think it's great that they're going to help take care of grandma -- without a doubt, they'll grow up to be just as loving daughters as you are!

sorry about the news your mother got. You are such a tremendous warrior for your mom. I didn't have any lymph node involvement either. My sister had lumpectomy and 7 lymph nodes involved. She had chemo TAC and rads. She has some lymphodema. Hoping that you mom gets through treatment without many side effects.
