I just watched a news story on the local FOX television affiliate here in Houston. It featured Dr. Edward Kim, Chief, Neck Medical Oncology, Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology, Division of Cancer Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX

Dr. Kim addressed HPV directly and it's apparent role in head & neck cancers. He mentioned that more and more "young" people are being diagnosed with head & neck cancers...who have not smoked and drink very little. He also said that they are "doing all the right things" health-wise and being diagnosed. These folks are HPV+.

He said more studies will be done and that HPV vaccine may be play an important role in the future as a tool to help prevent the disease. Dr. Kim also said that because the new patients are younger and in good health the cure rates are very high. The reporter mentioned that over 20 million people in the U.S. are HPV+ and that H&N cancer could become epidemic.

It was good to see a report that directly addressed H&N cancer. It appears the word is starting to get out.

Best to all,
Chuck.

It needs to get more attention - sounds like good "publicity".

    HPV
Since my husband did not smoke or drank he is 57 years old. They did not do a test for this but said that he was H.V.P. I found that strange.
