My wife has gone through her initial 3 rounds of taxol/carbo, had a successful surgery in June, and just completed her last three rounds of Taxol/Carbo. Her last three CA-125s have been a 2. She started with a 266 at diagnosis. Stage = 4.
CT and X-Rays all came back negative. We are both doing the happy dance!
Question, offer to do a clinical trial was discussed. There were three blind options:
1.) New Chemo - can't remember the name.
2.) Taxol
3.) Nothing
Patients don't know which option they will receive. Test last for 12 months with treatment every month.
Is anyone taking Taxol monthly? What is your experience?
We have to accept or decline trial within 30 days.
Thoughts?

I am taking monthly Taxol
I am taking monthly Taxol for one year. It's called consolidation, or sometimes maintenance chemo.
It's fairly easy to tolerate, for some people, but for others, not so much. Did your wife experience neuropathy with her initial treatment? That is the most frequent complaint about Taxol.
One really good thing about the monthly Taxol is that she is almost guaranteed a year of good health, with no recurrences. The down side is that she will still be tied to the calendar, for labs and treatment, and she won't regain her old energy level (or her hair).
I received number 7 of the 12 Taxol treatments today. My CA125 before surgery was 4000, now it bounces between 4 and 7.
The "new chemo" you mentioned may be Avastin. Although it's not chemo, strictly speaking.
