surgery scheduled - send those prayers my way, please!

mastectomy scheduled for september 15 - appt. with plastic surgeon tomorrow (although i know i can't have immediate reconstruction). pre-op tests on friday afternoon along with teaching class about the mastectomy. i will have my mom and sister with me for the next two days- first time since my cancer journey started that i won't have to go to a scary appointment alone! will be myself again on saturday - hopefully will find someone from my church willing to take me to the hospital and also to bring me home! been away from the computer since last friday and have so missed reading this board - your ladies (and few gents) give me hope and strength!

    I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you visit with ps, prepare for surgery and what lies ahead. Just keep coming here for encouragement and a whole lot of information from those who have walked this path before us.

    I had my mastectomy august 18 of this year. I be praying for you. You can make it thru this. I just starting the journey of founding out what is next for me in this battle. Which I will beat .

    Hi Heidi,
    Glad to hear that your mom and sister are coming to go with you to your appointments. I wished that they could stay longer for your surgery and recovery. I think you should really have someone there with you and wished that you were closer. I would be right there for your sister. If no one can stay with you, hopefully some friends from church can come and check on you and bring dinner. Sending positive thoughts, prayers and hugs your way, my friend. Hugs, Jean

    You sound pretty good considering. I went through bilat mast a little over a year ago, with delayed reconstruction. For me going back and doing recon later was the best decision and I'm very happy I did it that way. I had my recon (Tram-flap) last december and I'm very happy with the results. What you going through now is the hardest part, I think because it is so very personal. Anyway, I wish you all the best result and will keep you in my thought and prayer, especially on the 15th.

    I would line up a little more help than it sound like you have. Don't try and be a super-hero.

    I will be praying for you. Glad that you will someone with you. My mother was/is with me for every appointment know matter how long and although I don't like how she ask soooo many questions, I really am glad she is with me.

    Heidi, I'm sending you positive thoughts and keeping you in my prayers. So glad your mom and sister are with you now. You are very brave, handling all this on your own without complaint. Church members surely will be there for you. Remember, though, that the ACS has resources for you, too. Other ladies here have benefited from different ACS programs. So don't hesitate to ask.

    Heidi -- sending your positive prayers and thoughts ...pillows
    lots of varied sizes of pillows will help you rest, and sleep on your back. Also, cups, plates at arm level - you may unable to reach up for a few days ...
