Wednesday 9/8 is the big day
I started counseling last week to help with the sad days. When I filled her in on my treatment history and told her that I had surgery in June and it was successful, she asked my why am I doing chemo again. In my mind I said yea why am I, but I verbably stated to her it is for preventive measures.
She then asked me about crying spells. I told her I do have them, but don't really know why. When thinking about this whole BC, triple neg thing it just makes me cry. Will I ever stop crying????

without it I'm a mess.
with my cancer diagnosis' I thought I thought I thought I would never stop. But I did. I still cry sometimes, but its not all the time. I think tears can be cathartic. but if you need some medication go for it. I take an antidepressant that works mostly as an anti anxiety. Thats what Xanax does too. hugs!0 -
Xanax
Xanax for me too kept me from totally losing it.

At first I didn't cry. It was like I was frozen in treatment mode. When I could cry, it felt like the sobbing would never end. Xanax, antidepressants and time got me through. It will get better. xoxoxoxo Lynn
I use to cry at the drop of a hat. But since the day I got the dx I have not cried.0 -
Xanax is a beautiful thing!
It is healthy to cry and who wouldn't after being told they have cancer. However, when it gets to the point where you cannot function in your everyday life, it's time for help.
Counseling is great. And I believe it's OK and perhaps "normal" to need a little help from a pharmacutical drug after being diagnosed with a life threatening illness.
I used Xanax while going through my diagnoses as well. It so helped me. I'm on it again now as my father has been diagnosed with stage 4 Esophageal cancer in March.
Hang in there!! You will get through it!:)

Good for you, and you taking control -- :-D
I am very anti drugs normally, even more so with teenangers in the house -- so imagine my surprise .. when I decided to take Effexor daily - and my black moods lifted a bit! It took a while for me to step up and admit I need help - during my battle with breast cancer, and my fatigued filled days and nights during chemo treatments .. however, we all need help - whether we are live with family or alone. Breast Cancer is such a personal journey and fight - even with loved ones at our side.
Best of luck ..
Strength and Courage:

Shannon wishing
you the best on Wednesday as you start treatment again. I've been seeing a therapist on and off for close to 9 years and have taken antidepressants in the past. For some reason I have not cried since being dx with bc. Other issues in the past 4 years were more devastating for me. Seek the help you need and don't be afraid to take meds if they're going to help. Right now you need to focus on making life more bearable!

1st day
Today was the first day of my chemo tx. I started the PARP inhibitor trail for triple negative bc. It was a long day. I arrived at 9:00am and did not leave until 4:00pm. I given hydration, then neasua meds, then PARP, then cistplatin, then hydration again. Tomorrow I will be there for 2 hours and given PARP again, same on Friday.
No symptoms yet, but we will see on day 3 or 4. While is was there I started to have a pitty party then God reminded me that all this treatment is on the hospital and free to me. THANK YOU GOD.
God Bless all!!

Shannon, I have been thinking of you today--thanks for posting your update. I hope you are resting this evening.
As for tears, I can't add anything new to what other ladies have written. Zanax and Zoloft helped me. And some crying is healthy and cathartic. My onc. once commented that it was Ok for me to have a pity party now and then.
But really, you caught yourself today and looked at your treatment from a different perspective--being thankful for the free cutting-edge treatment. You will be just fine, I think, with such sound and self-aware thinking.
My best to a fellow TNBC-er,

thinking about you as you start chemo today. I'm not triple negative but I do know that when I went through menopause I cried all the time! I'm glad you sought help for it.

It was rough. Today 9/21/10 I am just feeling like a person again. On 9/8 I had my first round of the PARPH trail study, which is cistplantin and actually PARHP. I did not feel anything the next day, but Friday, Saturday and Sunday I was sick to my stomach. The following week, it was all I could do to take a shower. I was sooooo weak.
I have to have 4 rounds of this. the good news is one tx down. The bad news is next week is tx #2.
I am doing better with the crying, therapy really helps. And most important of all praying.
God Bless!!!
