That's my favorite way to eat it also John, but I can eat it fine plain. I don't know if it would be as easy fried with the cornmeal, but I will try it and see if it still retains it's moisturing effect. For those who have never eaten it, boil a few pods until they are very tender, no California snappy vegetable stuff; and I don't eat the very end of the stem, though you could.

I am the Orka queen! Love it. You can also use it in Soups. It makes a great base for thicker soups. You can roll orka it in cornmeal and fry it. Of batter it like with flour and egg . Heck you can even use the Jiffy Muffin mix (Egg and and a little milk) then fry it.
My husband he grew some orka this year. We went to Kentucky , Stopped at a little flower shop she had Orka seeds and Christmas Lima Bean. The Orka has the prettiest flower on the plants!0 -

Hal,
Never had it before unless it was in some cajun dish. Will have to try it. Always looking for something healthy that tastes good too!
Positive thoughts to everyone!

Like ZinnieMay...I know to put it soups. But I think I am going to look up a gumbo recipe...if Mark can't eat it...I will.

You have wash the pod of orka and freeze it,whole, but when you take it out slice while still frozen it works better, it is very good in Veggie soup. The "Slime" is good for thicking soup. You could try it in like stir fry too. Cut it in strips then you can omit the seeds.
It can be used like any Veggie. My mother would make what she called rag soup, with cabbiage orka, potatoes, and tomato juice. What ever veggies she had left she would add to the soup. Breen bean, Corn , But the tomato juice gave it the best flavor.0 -

There are a lot of ways, LOL...Google one that you like;
Ingredients:
6 large pork chops
1 medium onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes
1 1/4 cups chicken broth
1 tablespoon thyme
salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation:
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the pork chops on both sides (I like mine breaded with a little flour). Drain off excess fat.
Add remaining ingredients to the pork chops; cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 1 hour, or until very tender.
Serve with hot cooked rice.

I thought the Brady Bunch was responsible for the Pork Chops and Applesauce. Anyone remember that epeisode? "Pork chops and appleschaaauce."
Kim
I watched the Brady bunch but don't remember that one. I remember when my husband first asked for Apple sauce for the pork chops. I thought is strange! So I use apple juice to make pulled pork . So must have leaned something. Now I got to see if I can find the Brady Bunch !0 -

It was Peter Brady that said that line. It was when he was trying to find his "personality."0
