ANOTHER SETBACK
Has anyone had any complications with this that affected any future treatment with Radiation and Chemo?

Sorry to hear about the set backs
What are DVT's? If heparin drip - sounds like some sort of blood clot situation?
My husband got thrush from the chemo, and they gave him meds that cleared it up pretty quickly. He had the usual side affects and the only thing that kept him out of treatment was on one day - when he went in for chemo and his potassium was high and he was dehydrated... they admitted him to hospital and by time all the krap with checkin, etc. was done, he missed rads that day. They added an extra day on at the end if I remember right.
Hang in there.0 -

DVT is the fancy name for clots. "Deep Vein Thrombosis." I have not had any Rads or Chemo yet. I am only 2 weeks post surgery and got the Thrush already. My wife also thinks I have a Yeast Infection on part of my neck inscission.
Thanks much for the information.
Best to you and your family!!

Mike,
What's going on Dude? I've been outta the loop for a couple a weeks. Been trying to check up on past posts and ran accross all the crapola you've been thru - surgurieS! and now this. Man, as usual showing your studliness in keepping up such a good attitude.
I think I can help out on the Thrush. Had it 3 times. Used Dyfluken the first time to get rid of it. It worked good but messes with your liver, so I'd only go that route once. Used Nysatin, a swish and spit rx concoction the second time. Works ok. Scam has recommended LGlutamine for mouth issues. I've used them all, but I'll crdeit Pam M with what helped me the most - Probiotics. As soon as I started on them - cured the Thrush and hasn't come back since.
Positive thoughts coming your way Mike! Hang in there.

Nice to hear from you. Hope all is well. When I do not see posts from people on a regular basis my first though is a set back.
I started Nystatin yesterday, hopefully it works. My start on this journey has been far from predictable, but the end result has turned out better than my Doc originally planned. Hopefully I can stay out of the hospital for awhile. I look forward to starting Radiation and Chemo, but am worried the side effects will be horrible. I know the side effects are different per the indiviual, but cannot help to think about it.
I finally slept in a bed at home last night VS sitting upright in my Lazyboy, so that progress is a longtime coming but very good for the attitude.
nice to see you back on the site.

Side effects can be tough. But after being on this site, it's hard to predict how it will affect each person. Hope for the best for you there! After viewing everyone elses' symptoms, I'd put myself right in the middle. I got about everything but not real bad, except for the mucus issues and sores on my tongue that kept me from eating anything for 3 months. Half the battle is knowing what to expect and you've been here long enough to know what might come around. Any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Had 2 reasons that kept me off the site recently. None bad. Number 1 was work - had quarterly bidnis reports due, 2 proposals going out along with several big jobs going out, a presentation at a big meeting to give (never nervous on those usually, but since voice is now iffy sometimes and then I thought I'd have to hack up a luggie during my speech, I was a bit jittery, but all went well). Ended up working 12 hours a day for 2 straight weeks. That was typical of my old self, but didn't know if I could still do it.......I can. Don't like it like I used to, but still can do it. 2nd obstacle was re-modeling house so office was dismantled and just put computer back together tonite. (Just in time to do my fantasy football draft).
Take 'er easy dude. Need anything let me know.

Good to hear nothing bad.
I am working from home and plan to make a visit to the office later this week.
It is nice to be busy, helps with the good attitude.

Is that just my imagination? You seem like the type who when faced with adversity just dig in and fight harder.

Thanks Kim. The fighting part is something I have control over. I am a big believer in focusing on what I can control. I can work from home, but being at my office seems to give me a boost in spirits and confidence. Returning to some sort of "normalcy" as soon as posible helps me to keep striving forward. It also helps to keep my mind off of my next journey through radiation and chemo. I hear allot of "not so good" things regarding this phase of treatment. Hopefully i will still have the good fight in me to deal with this.
I will not lie, I am more scared of this phase VS the multiple surgeries I just went through.
STAY STRONG AND POSITIVE!!!
