My dad is still NED

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I do read your posts often. My dad was first diagnosed with colon cancer almost 5 years ago. He was stage IV with 2-3 liver mets. My dad had surgery for the initial tumor in the colon and then did 6 months of chemo. After the six months of chemo, the liver mets disappeared completely and never came back since. My dad has been NED for 4 years. His doctor said that my dad is in full remission and that if he continues to be NED next year, he will be cured.
I just wanted to post this because I know there has been bad news on this board lately and I wanted to give you all some good news.
My dad really didn't do much with his diet. He does take a few supplements. But I believe the main reason my dad is still with us today is prayer. When my father was first diagnosed, I was so devastated. The only place I could truly turn to was to God for his help. Since then, my spiritual life has been strengthened and so has my dad's. I really believe that my dad has received a miracle-Thank you Jesus!!!
Please don't give up, there is hope!!! My dad is an example of that.
God bless all of you,
-Lee-

Hi Lee, that's really great
Hi Lee, that's really great news, I am so very happy for your Dad! Your post put a smile on my face and gives me hope that my Rick will be NED someday too. Full remission - and possibly CURED - what an absolutely wonderful thing to hear! :-) Thank you, and God Bless you and your family as well, Cynthia -

This kind of news makes my day! I am really happy for you + your Dad + I really appreciate you coming here to share such positive news. I kind of needed that today. If you don't mind my asking, what chemo was your Dad on?
Hi, my dad was on a oxaliplatin, leukovorin, 5-fu, and avastin. I'm glad this news has helped. Please let me know if you have any other questions! -

Thanks Lee gives me hope. It will be 5 years in January since my husband was diagnosed stage 3 rectal cancer. He has been NED since then. Pet scan and sigmoid scheduled for December and really nervous. Your dads story really helps. I am happy for him and you.
good luck
