1 PM MDT
I've been traveling from Sacramento to WY these past three days and just got back on the board. I too am speechless and very sad.
Sunday I was able to visit the Bristlecone pines on Mt Wheeler at 10,000' in Great Basin National Park. As I strolled along the interpretative trail and read the inscriptions below these old old trees (one was 3200 yrs old) living in these harsh conditions right at treeline, I just wept. I read "Adversity" (for the conditions under which they survive, a "Resistance to Die" (the oldest living beings on earth), "Complacence" (how rot can infect the core if the environmental conditions in which they root make it too easy).
May Donna feel the power and courage and peace that emanates from these trees.
