"Things" do work the way they are supposed to.
I am so 'glad' ('glad' isn't the right word - no one should ever be 'glad' that someoine else is dealing with the 'Monster' but I can't think of a better word right now) that I can do something for someone who needs what I was fortunate enough to be able to do for myself -= getting to appts. But there is another part of me, that is feeling really selfish - I've done my chemos, rads and surgery and now as far as I know I'm 'riding' NED (remember I can't dance but am a horsewoman LOL) - because giving the rides will make me feel 'good'.
The written word does not always express the intent of the thoughts - so hope ya'll understand what I'm trying to say.

My 2 cents worth
I think I get what you are trying to say. It does feel good to be able to help someone out, it is sad that it has to be for this reason. You are going to do it for them anyway even though it may be hard to go back to the Dr. with someone discussing cancer. I think you are doing a noble thing by being willing to do this. I was fortunate that I could take myself to all my appts. and treatments too. I can only imagine how hard it would be not to be able to do that for yourself. I really think I get why you feel a little selfish but you are doing it anyway and I think that is what matters.God Bless

Susan,
I was able to "give back" after my mastec. and when I went back to work by helping our school district connect with MDAnderson hospital via internet connections when a sutdent of ours was there for a brain tumor (Student is doing well, by the way! She is NED!!) She didn't want to miss out on school and was afraid of not seeing her friends. We were able to telecommunicate, and she was able to see her classmates daily for an hour. Just seeing her gossip with her friends after class (we kept the connection up a bit longer...), and watching them all interact like this was the most normal thing ever was a wonderful exerience, and I was "glad" too that I was able to be a part of this memorable experience. I was 3 months out at the time...
So, don't be sorry about being "glad" you can help someone. It's all part of paying it forward. And it is indeed rewarding.0 -

I think that it is
Susan,
I think that it is great you are giving back. Maybe instead of glad you could say you feel, Fortunate or honored to be able to give to someone else. Whatever word you use though, it is a wonderful thing you are doing.

What a blessing you are
especially since you went through a similar experience, you can really empathize with them even more. Going through something like this and "receiving" so much from others just makes you want to give back in return.
Girl, you enjoy your ride with NED, by all means you deserve it!0 -

I can understand being glad you can help someone. I hope to be able to do the same when I feel a little stronger. This is a wonderful thing to do and will make a very difficult time much easier for someone.0 -
I know exactly what you
I know exactly what you mean. Just doing even small things to help some one who is taking the journey we have already taken makes me very happy. It is sorta like an inner glow and it makes you smile just to know that you could give back to someone and know that they truly appreciate it.
