Dropping oxi from Folfox4

Well, all of that depends on if oxi is causing the side effects.
While life without oxi is a walk in the park compared to 5-FU and Leucovorin, I still was very tired after infusions when they took oxi off my regimen. I hope you're sleeping well. I usually slept for a couple of days after infusion, even with just the 5-FU and Leucovorin. I was so tired to the point that the room spun and I couldn't walk without holding on to something or else I'd fall into a wall or something. After sleeping, it was over.
Good luck, Hope you've talked to your onc about this as well.

Graci, I should have been more clear...unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
about what I said. In my mind, I typed it correctly, but I don't think I did.
When I went off oxi because of an allergic reaction, that left me with the 5-FU and the Leucovorin. To me, it was a walk in the park without the oxi. It did bring on new side effects without the oxi, but to me, they were easy to tolerate. I was never nauseous, or felt bad, no hand or leg cramps, either. I know that people had a hard time with getting neulasta shots because their bones would ache. I never got that either. I was just tired. So fatigued that I could hardly function. Those were the "poop your pants" times because I could barely get off the couch to make it the bathroom because the 5-FU caused diarrhea for me. Everybody's mileage may vary, but that's how it was for me.
My onc decided I was the poster child of folfox because it really didn't exhibit any side effects for me (Until treatment #7). I wouldn't say that now. I really didn't get neuropathy in my hands & feet until treatment nine and the oxi was pulled on treatment 7. Maybe my body is just SLOW about getting side effects. I don't know. ) So far, since I've been off chemo for a month, no more side effects have shown up. I still have the neuropathy, but then again, it's better than the alternative. )0 -

Holly, were you doing the 3 day infusion like I am with a pump in a fanny pac. Also, were you doing Avastin which is part of Folfox 4, I'm doing the Avastin too.0 -

I was started on Tuesdays and disconnect day was Thursdays. Thursdays were very happy days for me.
Avastin, I believe is an added drug to Folfox4. I don't believe it's part of Folfox4 regimen. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's my understanding that Folfox4 consists only of Oxaliplatin, 5-FU and Leucovorin.

I did not have Avastin. We thought about adding Avastin when I became allergic to the oxi, but we both (onc and I) decided to just do the 5-FU and Leucovorin for the rest of the treatments.0
